It is located in a small town filled with other airport hotels and yummy Korean restaurants where it acts as the gateway to the adventure in and out of South Korea.
If you are traveling from other parts of the world, or even Asia, winter in South Korea can be pretty brutal, so be prepared to bring extra layers of clothes when you step out of the airport on your way to the hotel. It is just a 15 minute ride or so to the hotel, but it is icy cold. During winter, you often see snow accumulating on the streets, and the temperature is around 0 degree Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) in the area.
Take your socks off and walk on the wooden heated floors
It cannot be said that the entrance of the hotel is luxurious by any means, but the rooms that make up the Incheon Airport Hotel June are unexpectedly nice after seeing the entrance. As soon as you step into the room, the wooden floor is heated so you can even be barefoot during winter when it is even snowing outside. There is a heater as well, but many travelers do not even turn on the heater because the floor heater is enough to make the stay comfortable.
The room is beautifully furnished in a modern style with a twist of Korean taste. In this room, there are two beds, one queen size and one single size. The hotel offers many packages, like family plans and business plans, so this type of a room would be perfect if you are traveling with a child.
Making your stay comfortable
As well as the floor heating, by staying at Incheon Airport Hotel June you will find a few interesting things you do not find at other hotels. In order to keep the room warm, the window has three layers so that the cold air does not enter easily and the heat stays in the room. The room temperature with just the floor heating makes everything comfortable, and these three layer windows also contribute to how comfortable it is to stay in the room.
Though I must warn you that when you enter the bathroom the floor is extremely cold because it is all stone. When entering the bathroom, there is a set of slippers that you definitely want to wear before stepping into the bathroom. The temperature difference between the room and the bathroom is so dramatic that your body is guaranteed to be shocked. The bathroom has a large bath tub, so if you need to warm up after a long journey, make sure to take advantage of extending your legs completely.
Breakfast buffet before you leave for the airport
On the basement floor of the hotel, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy a breakfast, lunch, or dinner buffet. The menu is not so keen on serving Korean cuisine, except for the kimchi that is always there for all three meals. For breakfast, you’ll find some fruits, cereal, toast, eggs, rice, and sausages like any simple breakfast you can imagine. For dinner, you have more options on top of that, without fruits but other dishes like curry, fish fries, and dumplings. Unfortunately, the buffet at this hotel is not the best, so if you have time, definitely venture around the area to find something different.. I personally had a great meal just around the corner from the hotel. The restaurants and stores in the area do not open till 10am or so, thus you may need to get breakfast at the hotel, but if you are staying for lunch or dinner, it is definitely a great idea to explore the small town to search for Korean dishes!
Neon lights everywhere!
How I came to stay at the Incheon Airport Hotel June was accidental because my connecting flight had already left by the time I arrived at Incheon Airport. When I arrived at the hotel it was passed 9 so I decided to walk around the neighborhood and saw bright neon lights everywhere.
The hotel is located in a small town by Incheon Airport, so unfortunately there is not much to do for tourists, but it is quite interesting to simply walk around to view the bright neon lights at night. Even though there is not much to do, there are a lot of restaurants and cafes that are open at night, so get out and enjoy a taste of Korea! The truth is, when I walked around the neighborhood the following morning, it was not as exciting as it had been at night. Even a small town in Korea shines at night more than in the mornings, so venture out if you can handle a little bit of cold weather. For those of you who have time, it is about an hour ride by subway to go to Seoul, so that is an option as well.
Stay warm and prepared for your adventure
The rooms that are provided by the Incheon Airport Hotel June are modern and comfortable. You’ll especially find that during the cold winter, a heated wooden floor in the room comes in handy, allowing you to relax after a long day of traveling. The buffet option may not be the best, but there are many restaurants and cafes to go to in the neighborhood, and there is a large TV with many channels and they also provide free WiFi, which allows for a convenient and easy stay right before your adventure. Something, though, you want to be aware of is that South Korea has completely different outlets, so you may want to bring a travel adapter or wait to go to the airport to charge your phones or tablets. Besides from that, the room provides a great accommodation during the cold winter time.
