Coolangatta, Queensland’s southernmost town gets its name from a schooner which was wrecked there in 1846. This relaxed beach town offers some uncrowded beaches for surfing and swimming (including the famous Superbank), delightful waterfront promenades, and lively weekly foreshore markets. The friendly local community will put you at ease while you relax in town. Go on a coastal rainforest walk in Burleigh Head National Park, cuddle a Koala in Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, enjoy a romantic wine tasting, walk along the pristine Coolangatta Beach, and see the beacon of Fingal Lighthouse on a dark night. If you are looking for some excitement, there is the Gold Coast within a short drive. North of Coolangatta, on Boyd St. there is a major sporting complex, leagues club, and a golf course.
