Located just off the southeastern Queensland coast of Australia, Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island that has an area of approximately 1,840 square kilometers (184000 hectares). As nature would have it, the sand has accumulated over thousands of year and also contains a form of fungi that can be absorbed as nutrients by plants. This has led to the growth of lush rainforests, mangrove swamps and eucalyptus woodland. In turn, this has allowed animal life to flourish on the island. It is no small wonder that Fraser Island was listed as a World Heritage site in 1992. If you’re planning a trip to this beautiful island, take a look at our list of homely and comfortable Stayz accommodations in Fraser Island, Australia, that you can relax in.
