Affordable, conveniently located, decent accommodation, and a wonderful staff; aren’t these what most budget conscious tourists want from a hotel? A boutique hotel named Tanaya Bed & Breakfast has all these elements. A very decent, quiet hotel with a hospitable staff in central Legian, Bali, that is exceptional with a backpacker price; that’s how I describe Tanaya Bed & Breakfast.

Central location

This boutique hotel is just 20 minutes from Ngurah Rai international airport, and a 10-minute walk away from Bali’s most famous Kuta beach. Located in the middle of a crowded and bustling street in Legian, known as a party area where cabs are easy to get, and options of nightlife, shopping (the K-Circle is open for 24 hours), dining, and services like spas, ATMs, money changers, and travel agencies are the most abundant on the island. There is virtually nothing to complain about, as everything is conveniently located within a reasonable walking distance. It’s superb! Bali’s best bar, named Sky Garden, with the coolest pool parties and most popular Western buffet (e.g. BBQ ribs, and mashed potatoes), including alcoholic beverages, is only 200 meters (656 ft) away!.

You may wonder how it is to sleep in a hotel located among bars. Fret not, because incredibly enough, the noise isn’t heard at all from most of the rooms! These spectacular rates start from 16 USD for a standard room, but to be noise free (most won’t be bothered with a little noise from outside the room’s window), book a superior for 23 USD, or a slightly bigger deluxe room for only 28 USD! It’s a well-maintained room with a comfy latex bed, air conditioner, a hot shower with a constant supply of hot water, an in-room safe, telephone, flat screen TV, strong Wi-Fi signal from all rooms, and a private bathroom. However, some bathrooms are separated from the rooms, but they are still private bathrooms as you will have the key, and not have to share with guests from other rooms. What else could you ask for, for a 16 USD room in Legian? There is nothing at all to complain about!

Breakfast at Tanaya's Cafe

The rates also include breakfast, making this an even greater value! Although breakfast is pretty basic, they change their menu everyday. Items range from fried rice, fried noodles, sandwiches, etc,and if you stay for several days, you won’t have the same breakfast for 2 consecutive days. Another amazing aspect is it also comes with slices of fruit (e.g. watermelon, papaya) and a cup of your choice of either canned juice, coffee, or tea! Wi-Fi is also fast here, and since the restaurant is located on the balcony, sitting here at around 8am for breakfast is nice because this is about the time the shops open for business. You will see shop owners or employees setting up their goods, and preparing for the busy day ahead. It’s truly a great way to start your day!

Top budget hotel

The hotel won’t be the same without the staff’s hospitality. Unlike the staff in other budget hotels, the staff in Tanaya, starting from the front office, the bellboys, and even the security are always attentive to their guests. They speak English pretty well, and will always greet you with smile, and help you bring your luggage to your room without being asked. The receptionists will also be able to arrange your taxi to the airport, as well as other destinations in Bali.

With the combination of all the amenities, and the budget rates, it’s not surprising at all that this hotel has been given an award by an international travel club, named HotelClub, as the ‘Top Hotel on a Shoestring Budget In Indonesia’.

Book now before it's too late!

If you enjoy time at the spa, you can go to Dala Spa nearby the hotel (located inside DeDaun villa, which is under the same management with Tanaya) as they give a 15% discount to Tanaya’s guests. The standard offered by Tanaya is amazing for the money you spend for the stays, and since this hotel only has 26 rooms, it’s always fully booked on weekends. I highly recommend booking the hotel now to avoid any future disappointment!
