The5rooms boutique hotel is in the heart of Barcelona. It is a downtown urban oasis. In fact, it is now more than five rooms. The bed and breakfast now features nine double superior rooms, three junior suites, and two fully equipped apartments. The turn of the century building is minutes away from Las Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia, and Plaza Catalunya.

It is very easy to walk by the hotel and not notice it. The only indication of the hotel is a small name card on the front of the 19th-century Catalan apartment block building. After getting buzzed in through the main door, you walk across the black and white checkered courtyard to the elevator, taking it to the first floor.

The first floor lounge area, is not your typical lounge or lobby. It is a large homey communal area. It has been tastefully decorated with a custom seating area covered with colorful pillows, giant mirrors, and low hanging lights. A small table with chairs is the check-in space.

The second floor, which was renovated years later, became an addition to the original five rooms. The breakfast buffet is located in the communal area with guests seating around two large square wood tables. Several seating areas and numerous books and travel guides can be found throughout the two floors.

The5rooms hotel is located steps away from the maze of a metro station, Urquinaona. Make sure you exit onto Pau Claris or Laietana. This station also has an exit that takes you two blocks away, which can be very frustrating for travelers. Situated in the Eixample area, the boutique hotel is surrounded by restaurants, cafés, bars, and boutique shops. From the hotel, you can walk to many of the city’s landmarks and attractions including the Arc de Triomf, Plaça de Catalunya, Las Ramblas, and several museums.

The bright rooms

All the rooms have a loft-style feel to them. The exposed brick walls, low beds, white or neutral tone décor, and eccentric artwork gives a relaxing feel. The beds are one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The pillows feel like you are resting your head on clouds. The bathrooms contain large showers, oversized sinks, hair dryers, and locally made products for your convenience and use. All the rooms include air conditioning and heating, soundproof windows, satellite TV, telephone, and wireless internet. The double room has one queen or two twin beds. The junior suite has one king or two twin beds.

The two fully equipped apartments are a couple of doors down from the main building. They can accommodate up to four people. They are a spacious alternative for guests who enjoy having more space, extended stays, or families. They offer a living room with sofa and sofa bed (with two twin beds), heating and air conditioning, TV, and wireless internet. The kitchen contains cooking utensils, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, washing machine, and iron. The bedroom contains a queen bed and TV. The apartments also have a dining room and terrace.

The breakfast buffet is included in your stay. The seating area has two large communal tables, which gives it a homey feel unlike a hotel. You can socialize with other guests while enjoying an assortment of cured meats and cheeses, cereal, and a variety of breads and jams. Several pastries and yogurts are also available. Enjoy your breakfast with a selection of Nespresso coffee, teas, and juices. Breakfast is served from 8:30 am to 11:00 am.

The hotel also has an honesty bar in which self-served beverages are available all day. All you do is write down what you’ve taken on the paper beside the fridge.

Room rates start at 137.50 EUR (150 USD) for a single person and 159.50 EUR (174 USD) for two people per night in the double room. Rates for the junior suite start at 181.50 EUR (198 USD) per night. Contact the hotel for availability and rates for the apartments.

Hello! My name is Perry, originally from the heart of Belgium, famed for its waffles and fries. However, it wasn't just the call of the Spanish sun that brought to Barcelona, but rather a captivating encounter with a German-Uruguayan beauty in Thailand. This led to the birth of our son in Ibiza, and eventually, more than two decades ago, I found myself in the vibrant city of Barcelona. My passion for meeting people from different nationalities and cultures, coupled with an insatiable appetite for adventure, has empowered me to transform ordinary days into extraordinary stories. In 2020, I embarked on a new journey by starting my own sightseeing company, showcasing the wonders of Barcelona to people from all over the world. With nine years of guiding experience in this magnificent city, I am thrilled to share its beauty and hidden gems with you.

Quiet in the city

The boutique hotel is a calming, relaxing place in the middle of the bustling Barcelona city center. Yessica, the owner, speaks several languages and is always welcoming. The hotel staff are not always there, so you must notify them of your arrival time prior to getting there and checking in. They also welcome small dogs if arrangements are made in advance.
