Las Vegas can be hailed as a mini Italy – there are so many themed resorts, most of them located in the Middle Strip of town. They are opulent constructions, and are always trying to compete and outshine each other. It’s definitely a sight to see! If you’re on a budget, read on for a taste of what ‘Italy’ may offer, with a distinct show-glitzy American twist.
Take a Gondola Ride outside of Venice (from USD 143)
Italian culture and architecture remain as one of the most well-known themes amongst resorts in the Strip. The Venetian, and its sister property The Palazzo, are one of the most grand, offering suites instead of rooms. Don’t fret if you can’t afford the price tag attached to these rooms, as you can go to the Grand Canal Shoppes and enjoy their shopping options, and even ride on a gondola. The gondoliers even serenade you as you ride along the man-made canals of The Venetian, a kitschy, but fun recreation of the Venice experience without the same price tag as flying to Venice. As you walk around indoors, take a look at the ceiling – it seems as if the clouds are moving as you walk along, but be careful of other people milling around, as it does get crowded. The Venetian also hosts shows within its vast compound: from Human Nature: The Motown Show, to the Rock of Ages musical, it’s a mix of Italy and America in one location. Your dinner options can also be catered for by one of their many restaurants with celebrity chefs, like Wolfgang Puck’s CUT. On the other end of the spectrum, if you want to party (it is Vegas after all) – head on over to the hottest nightclub in town, Tao.

Hail Caesar! (from USD 89)
Caesar’s Palace is also Italian-themed, with fountains and gardens dotting its massive compound. The resort probably takes up three city blocks! The Forum Shops are probably one reason why you should make Caesar’s Palace a stop on your itinerary. From their curved elevator, which of course you must ride in, to the huge marble statues dotting the grounds, and of course, the various luxury shopping experiences. You’ll probably get lost just trying to find your way through the maze they call shops! Outside is a big fountain which will remind you of the Trevi Fountain in Rome: only scaled down, of course.

Il Bellagio (from USD 169)
Taking inspiration from Lake Como, this hotel is known for the dancing fountains that entertain bystanders every 30 minutes in the late afternoon (4pm until 8pm), and 15 minutes in the evening (8pm until midnight). The fountains dance and sway to the music that’s playing at the time, and every performance is different. So if you happened to walk by at 7pm en route to a show, and come back at 10pm, another surprise will await you. The best view point for the dancing fountains is on top of Paris’ Eiffel Tower. Inside the Bellagio, there is also a small art museum that you can visit, as well as a lovely conservatory and botanical garden (free of charge to visit).
