You’ll be crying ‘woohoo’ after discovering this cute hostel located right in Madrid’s city centre! Being as big and popular as Madrid is, finding reasonably priced accommodation in the city centre of Spain’s capital can often be a difficult task. For this reason, I would like to present Woohoo Hostel Madrid. Woohoo Hostel is perfectly located just off of Madrid’s main street; the whole city is at your fingertips. The hostel has different rooms for different travellers, with staggered pricing, so your needs will be well catered for.

Woohoo hostel has 14 bedrooms in total, with a maximum capacity of 38 guests. Each bedroom is personalised to suit different travellers, and is also colour coordinated to make booking and reservations that little bit easier! There is a bunk area, which is dedicated to the rooms with bunk beds, such as the backpacker’s room and the party room (Note: Although the rooms are close together, noise never seems to be a problem). In addition, there is a family room and a relax room, among others, which have bigger beds than the bunk rooms. All 14 rooms have different designs, so it’s impossible not to find what you are looking for! The prices of the rooms vary greatly.

The beds are comfortable and are all fitted with a side-lamp and shelf to hold any important items. There is one locker per person (some of the more expensive rooms have two) and big windows, which can be opened to cool the rooms from Madrid’s heat. For rooms without a bathroom, there is a shared bathroom straight down the hall, which contains 3 toilets as well as a separate bathroom to shower.

Great bargains across different categories of rooms

Each room is named differently to make planning and reservations much easier.

If you are looking for a great bargain, the regular price on the backpackers room is 19 EUR per person (approximately 21 USD). However, during different seasons, they may have different deals. If you are looking for a twin private room, they have many different options, some of which include the Single Gold, Relax, Sensations and Garden rooms. All of these include a bathroom as well as double beds.

The lower priced of the private rooms is around 55 EUR (approximately 60.88 USD) for the room (two people). However, if you are looking for more features such as a large screen TV, a bigger bed or a central room to eliminate any street noise, there are a number of other options that are priced between 80 EUR and 90 EUR (between approximately 88.54 USD and 99.61 USD).

At Woohoo, breakfast is included in the price of the room. This can make a big difference, especially to those on a tighter budget. It is served between 8.30am and 10.30am, or 12pm during the weekends. However, the front of house staff are very friendly and if you explain that you have somewhere to be before this time, they will prepare you a little breakfast before you head off. The breakfast includes cereal, toast and mini-cakes as well as a hot drink; tea coffee or hot chocolate.

Kitchen facilities

Some of Woohoo’s kitchen facilities are available throughout the day.

The kitchen and living area are connected, which creates a sociable space to meet other travellers. Here you can access the free Wi-Fi as well as watch TV or eat a meal. It is open until midnight, or 1am during the weekend and if you need any of the facilities (refrigerator, toaster oven, kettle etc), you can pop your head around the corner and ask the staff member who is on duty. They speak a number of languages, including English, so don’t be afraid to ask!

The friendly living space

As well as these services, bags can be stored for free. Although their website says there is a small charge for those guests who have not yet checked in, they will generally let you drop them off free of charge. The reception is open 24/7, and remember; they are really friendly! If you need anything printed such as boarding passes, tickets, etc, feel free to ask them. Also, to add to the list of things they offer is helpful information on sights and foods of Madrid. Ask them when you check in and they’ll give you a map of the city with some great must-see sights.

This is a great little gem of a hostel, suited for any type of traveller. It has an ideal location and it really does make your stay in the city that little bit easier. Contact and booking details are as followed.
