Miami Beach is an ever changing landscape that still retains its charm and architectural heritage. New hotels are always popping up, and on this occasion we were thrilled to pop in to The Miami Beach EDITION by Ian Schrager to spend some time while creating new memories.

Capturing the essence of the city...

Much more like a private compound than a hotel, EDITION features 294 individually designed guest rooms and suites, 28 private bungalows, a spectacular rooftop penthouse, plus 26 limited edition one-of-a-kind residences designed by John Pawson.

Rest your pretty head

The first word you utter will probably be “ahhhh,” as you step into your luxurious hotel bedroom at The Edition Miami Beach. You’ll be tempted to sit outside on the balcony and stare at the ocean all day, or snuggle up in the luxurious bed. Try to resist the temptation because there is so much to see, do, eat and drink.

Spacious and elegantly designed, guest rooms feature light oak-paneled walls and a bathroom with a sliding glass door and ivory porcelain-slab floor tiles. Many also offer a private terrace with a direct beachfront view, custom upholstered teak lounge chairs and glazed ceramic side tables. When it’s time to go to sleep and you slip under the super soft sheets, another “ahhhhh” will be heard coming from your mouth:-)

Original 1950's Pool

The entire lushly landscaped outdoor space at The Miami Beach EDITION is appropriately named Tropicale, inspired by the legendary 1950s Havana nightclub Tropicana. It features the fully restored, original swimming pool complete with a period diving board and a second, large rectangular concrete pool surrounded by custom teak lounges.

Adjacent to a series of custom private cabanas with oversize daybeds, you can find mini refrigerators, private safes, and televisions, all tucked away behind a 70,000 square-feet of Miami beachfront.

Beach Club at The Miami Beach EDITION is a private members club for locals to enjoy. Members have exclusive access to restaurants, clubs, beach, pools, and more. Sandbox is the lounge area showing monthly outdoor movie screenings.

Magic happens in the basement

Indoor Ice Skating and Bowling

BASEMENT is a multi-dimensional entertainment hub in Miami Beach, where we find a dazzling array of action and activities. A newly re-imagined 21st century bowling alley uses an interactive lighting system to synchronizes with bowlers’ movements which are then projected onto oversized LED screens. With its state-of-the-art sound system, dramatic lighting effects, luminescent bowling balls and bowling shoes customized by famed artists, Basement Miami is magical.

The Miami Beach EDITION also boasts a 2,000 square-foot indoor ice skating rink. While skaters glide to the beat of the pulsating state-of-the-art sound system, the ice’s surface comes alive as the canvas for spectacular, constantly color-changing, dramatic lighting effects.

Through high windows, the rink, ever-changing light shows, and the swirling choreography of the skaters creates a surreal, almost Dali-esque sight for those outside on Collins Avenue.

The Spa is another space at The Miami Beach EDITION where you will also utter that deep sigh of “ahhhh” After ice skating, bowling, dancing, dining, swimming and beach time, take some time to relax. This soothing and relaxing environment is designed with luxury and comfort in mind.

Unique treatments are available including: “STICKS AND STONES” The interplay of bamboo sticks rolling across the body with warm stones which encourages the body to release fascial adhesions and relax tense muscles. Even if you don’t have time for a workout, sauna, or any of the beauty or special treatments available, just be sure to stop in to take a deep breath and enjoy this serene and peaceful environment.

Michelin starred dining by Jean Georges Vongerichten

The Miami Beach Edition boasts the only indoor, ground floor lobby bar in Miami Beach with a direct view of the ocean, as well as a gourmet marketplace with a variety of food and beverages for dining in or on-the-go. Culinary concepts are overseen by one of our favorite Michelin-starred chefs, Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Along with some stunning photographs of bullfights, Matador Room, offers the cuisine of Chef Jean George Vongerichten, one of our all-time favorites. His distinctive, modern interpretation of Latin cuisine influenced by Spanish, Caribbean and South American flavors is a winning combination.

Overlooking the hotel’s pool deck, the Matador Bar features American black walnut-panelled walls with photographs from renowned French photographer Lucien Clergue’s Matador series. A solid walnut floating bar stands at the center of the room, surrounded by custom furniture and banquettes in soft jewel-toned velvet.

Providing bespoke crafted cocktails, Matador Bar’s tenured barmen utilize the freshest ingredients to expertly prepare each drink while delivering a unique experience with exemplary service.
