An auberge is an establishment with a restaurant to dine in, and an inn to stay at. The term has the image of being a dedicated, high-class restaurant.

At the auberge “Ajikura Caro Caro,” the Japanese-style building on the left side is the restaurant, and the right side is a three-story hotel.

The hotel has seven rooms. In this designer’s hotel, each room has a different flavor and a different type of bath. The first floor also has two private outdoor baths, available for reservation for 50-minute periods at 1000 JPY. Take a nice, long bath to recover from your usual fatigue.

With the Japanese-style bathrobes and socks, and the Japanese tea and coffee available in your rooms, you can feel the consideration for their customers.

Outdoor bathes available! The perfect auberge

The hot springs equipped in each room can be made into an outdoor bath by opening the folding doors. Take a deep breath and fill your lungs with the fresh, outdoor air while you relax in this hot spring.

The hot springs in the seven rooms are all different, whether they are a Japanese style cypress bath, or a western style bathtub, or an octagonal outdoor bath like the one pictured. For important anniversaries and the like, they will prepare “rose baths” for you, where rose petals are sprinkled on the bath. If you inform them of your special occasion, they will happily be considerate.

The spring type of the Toba Honura Onsen (onsen = hot spring in Japanese) is an alkaline, simple spring. Its effects include help with sensitivity to cold, muscular pain, joint pain, motor paralysis, bruising, sprains, neuralgia, and fatigue.

Having a hot spring in your room means you can bathe in it as many times as you want, at any time of day, making for the perfect holiday.

Enjoy the succulent uramura oysters!

Pictured is their “one year oyster,” raised in Uramura. They can be eaten raw with lemon or ponzu added according to your tastes. They are small, but succulent with a nice texture, and have their sweetness, savor, and flavor all condensed well into each oyster.

Known as “milk of the sea,” oysters are very well balanced in nutrition. They especially have large amounts of iron, zinc, and copper, making it a great food for kids and people who might be slightly anemic.

Vitamins B2 and B12 are known to metabolize substances that accompany fatigue, making it a great food to revitalize your tired body. They’re perfect for recovering over the weekend!

The town of Uramura in southern Toba City is the best place in Mie Prefecture when it comes to sterile oyster farming. The seawater coming from Ise Bay, composed of the warm waters of the Kuroshio Current and rich in plankton, meets the river water that carries nutrients from the mountains in the Onoura Bay. The brackish water rich in nutrients, with the gentle, ria-style bay, makes it an excellent environment for raising oysters.

The oysters grown in this kind of environment grow fast, and can be cultivated after just one year, which is why they are known as “one year oysters”.

The Mie-brand oysters raised in Onoura’s rich nature, the “Uramura Oysters,” can be had between the months of October and March.
