If you want to have an ocean view while you bath in an outdoor bath, head to Hanaribira on Ikeishima island in Okinawa.

Some of you may think an outdoor bath? But, taking a soak in an outdoor bath while watching the sea really is so relaxing for both mind and body.

There are only a few outdoor baths in Okinawa, and a room with an outdoor bath is even rarer. Listening to the waves while bathing is something you may want to try out.

Going to Hanaribira

Hanaribira on Ikeishima island is roughly 1.5 hours away by car from Naha airport. Going from Uruma City’s Katsuren peninsula on the island of Okinawa you cross the low lying bridge known for its scenery and pass Henzajima island, Miyagijima island and it’s the last island in the chain. On the way to Ikei Island you can stop by Ayahashi “Sea Station” or the Nuchimaas salt factory, (which has a café and a free tour). Once on Ikei Island you can easily find the Hanaribira signs to get to the destination easily.

The hidden spot with a view, the Yakena Observatory

On the Katsuren peninsula when you come to the crossing to get on the marine road instead of heading straight turn right, and you come to a hidden gem, the Yakena Observatory. Here you can see the road cutting right across the ocean from a spectacular vantage point.

Next to a small fish port, and with an obscure entrance to the stairs, it is definitely hidden away and something to explore for.

Forget everything and relax in an outdoor bath where you can feel the ocean

There are a total of 5 rooms here at this villa. Each has a bath on the balcony big enough for a woman to lie down in allowing you to take a bath outside anytime you want.

In the day you can view the sea, at night you can view the star filled sky.

Also of note is that the villa has handmade bath powder filled with herbs, this combined with the sea allows you to take the stress out of you from your very core.

A room where you can see the stars with the skylight

With the adorable decorations in the room such as the candles and sea shells you might forget to look up at the impressive skylight.

The skylight allows you to watch the stars at night from the bed on a clear night. Going to sleep with the stars watching over you will definitely help you sleep deeper.

Smack your lips with the delicacies of Okinawa!

Both dinner and breakfast can be had in the dining area on the first floor. Both are Japanese style meals that use many Okinawan native ingredients, but the real gem is dinner!

From the appetizer to desert it is set as a course, including such dishes as tomato and basil Sukiyaki, or rice mixed with grains covered in sea grapes, or salt gelato, each is something tasty which you never have had before.

This is a room that is the most relaxing around

With relaxation being the theme of Hanaribira, we couldn’t even cover all the hospitalities they provide in such a short article.

If you find yourself tired often recently and need a break from daily life definitely come here to unwind.
