Disneyland Park in Disneyland Paris is a fairytale land where differences between children and adults cease to exist. It is a zone of great fun, and if you have considered yourselves too old for the “childish games”, you are badly mistaken. The biggest part of fun relates to plentiful rides, and most of them are intended for all ages. Some are quite adventurous, others are relaxing, and if you aren’t sure which ride matches your mettle, there is a solution even for you. Listed below are some of the rides you shouldn’t miss when in Disneyland Park.

High-adrenaline rides

Thunder Mountain, which can be found in the Frontierland section of Disneyland Park, is an absolute favourite among Park visitors. The ride commences in the mining shaft, and takes you through the dark depths of the Wild West mine through the tunnels and over the mountain peaks. You’ll witness sudden deflections at full speed, slow rises and various angles during the ride. Time to enjoy the picturesque environment surrounded by a lake is also deployed.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, located in the Adventureland section, is another breathtaking ride, as well as its surrounding area. The level of excitement matches Thunder Mountain; add only 360° loops and take away slow rises.

If you experienced any of the above-mentioned rides, and found it was too much for you, by no means take the Space Mountain ride, in the Discoveryland section. The impression of the light speed is imminent, and you’ll pass by distant planets, galaxies and constellations by barely being aware of it. If you survived this ride, however, everything else would be a piece of cake.

Low-adrenaline rides

Right behind Space Mountain, you can find Star Tours. This resembles the flight simulator of the fighter belonging to the Rebel Alliance from the Star Wars, making its way through the main ship’s corridors, asteroid fields, the fire barrage of the Imperial Star Destroyer, and more.

Pirates of the Caribbean ride has nothing to do with Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa and other fellows from the homonymous series. Generally, it is a slow ride, with the occasional sudden drops, and, such as it is, it’s perhaps an ideal test before you head to the top-speed rides. On your way, you’ll experience scenes of the pirates’ celebration after successful conquests, setting the settlement ablaze, the attack from the ship on a fortress, and more. The ride is located in the Adventureland.

Relaxing rides

Casey Jr., or the circus train, in Fantasyland, is an entertaining ride, requiring no particular advance preparation. A locomotive with imaginative wagons traverses descriptive landscapes under moderate speed, so everything should be nicely perceived.

Next to Casey Jr., which trespasses the countryside that is about to be described, is the ride named Le Pays des Contes de Fees (Fairytale landscapes). It is a boat ride that enables you to see all the landscapes and buildings from the worldwide famous fairytales. The Beauty’s village and the Beast’s castle above it, the homes of the three pigs, the Aladdin’s cave of wonders, the Rapunzel’s tower with her braid jutting out of it, and the seaside castle from the Little Mermaid are only a few of them.

Peter Pan’s Flight, also in Fantasyland, is another especially popular experience in Disneyland Park. During the ride, you’ll fly over London, witness confrontation between Peter Pan and Captain Hook, encounter an unavoidable crocodile whose favourite meal happens to be the Captain, etc.

Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups ride (Fantasyland) is inspired by Alice in Wonderland fairytale, with spinning tea cups “barely” avoiding each other. Clockwise and counterclockwise rotations of the cups and platforms make an experience truly entertaining.

Things to know before boarding

Before making a decision to take a ride, don’t fail to examine the advisory board that points out why should you avoid the related ride (expectant mothers, people having problems with backs or necks, suffering from dizziness…). If you don’t fall into any related category, only the queue between you and your seat and (possibly) the level of adrenaline stand between you and the premium entertainment you will never forget, and probably not even then.

Considering the queues, waiting time ranges from 5 minutes up to half an hour, even longer if you are extremely unlucky (Thunder Mountain and Peter Pan in the first place). However, there is a solution for that. Look to obtain the Fast Pass with your ticket, which applies to certain rides, and you’ll have your waiting time considerably shortened.
