Many people like to stay in Seminyak when traveling to Bali, and they are right, as Seminyak is one of the most vibrant districts in Bali with many shops, boutiques, restaurants and accommodations. Seminyak is also close to Bali’s most popular beaches, such as Kuta and Seminyak beaches. There are so many options for accommodations in the area, but if you want to stay in a 5-star beachfront hotel, there is no doubt that W Hotel is a top choice.

A world-class hotel

There are more than 50 W Hotels spread across many countries around the world, and one of them is in Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia. It’s the only W Hotel in Bali (in fact it’s the only one in the country), and you may wonder what amenities this world-class hotel offers you.

Located on Jalan Petitenget, the drive up to the hotel’s lobby is a delight in itself. As your taxi driver enters the hotel (taxis cost 150,000 IDR, or 11.18 USD, for a 15 km / 9.32 mile ride from Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar City), you will be greeted by the hotel’s unique entrance. Its bamboo tunnel, created from tall bamboo manicured to touch at the top, protects the entrance from the sun.

A beautiful, large beachfront hotel

As soon as you are out of the tunnel, you will instantly fall in love with this hotel. The serene W Hotel is so large that it has golf carts for guests to use on the grounds, with beautiful fountains and swimming pools here and there in front of the huge white multi-storey hotel building. The building faces the sea, thus the sea is visible from almost everywhere in the hotel. Now you must be wondering what great amenities you are going to find at W Hotel!

Not just a regular lobby

The comfortable lobby, named W Lounge, is an open-plan structure facing the sea. There are numerous seats for guests to use the strong Wi-Fi (there is free Wi-Fi in all rooms and most places on the property), as well as very futuristic designed lighting, which you can enjoy in the evening.

Different colored light is used to decorate the lobby, which is reflected in the mirrored walls and ceiling. Wherever your eyes rest, you will see colorful lights! I especially loved the electric candles and the hanging chandeliers inside bamboo cages, which make this lobby more beautiful than any hotel lobby I have ever seen.

Order an Espresso Martini from Full Bar in the lobby (it’s a fashionable marble bar with colorful lighting), and you will soon learn the taste of sipping strong Indonesian coffee mixed with gin and vermouth! Also, check out the afternoon snack and cocktail buffet called Mad T-Party held daily in W Lounge from 2.30 PM – 5 PM, which includes cocktails and spirits, such as Chocolate Martini, a mix of Beluga chocolate, vodka, iced tea and coffee!

Sublime rooms

Much like the lobby, the rooms are sublime! Each of the hotel’s 237 rooms are very clean and spacious, and soon you will know the level of detail this hotel has put into décor. I loved the colorfully lit door knob and closet handles, the sliding partitions, as well as the earth toned carpet, walls, curtains and furniture, which match the warm, mellow lighting.

If you stay in an Oceanside View Room (it costs 7,575,000 IDR or 565.42 USD a night), you will have a dreamy balcony, which is large and has gorgeous sea and pool views, where you will be able to relax on the comfortable lounger while listening to the waves breaking on the shore! The hotel is facing west, which is perfect for sunset views, so there is really no need to go anywhere else at dusk!

It comes with 5-star amenities like a large and comfortable bed, a big LED TV and a coffee maker. In addition, you will be delighted to find a basket of fresh fruit delivered to your room every day.

Luxurious bathroom

The bathroom is spacious with amazing facilities such as a big bathtub (you will find rubber ducks or frogs in the bath!) and a marble sink with twin washbasins. It comes with luxurious Bliss toiletries, including the skin-rejuvenating body butter.

For a private pool, stay in one of the hotel’s villa rooms, and if you stay on the highest floor of the hotel (5th floor) you will get to see the sky from the retractable skylight, which you can easily open and close with a remote control!

Beautiful terraced pool by the ocean

beautiful terraced pool by the ocean

The hotel has an enticingly huge multi-tier winding swimming pool facing the ocean. When you look at the pool area from above, it is reminiscent of the rice terraces found in many mountainous areas of Indonesia, especially in Java and Bali, where a rice field is several different layers due to the mountainous terrain.

You can swim in the pool and unwind on one of the many loungers (with white umbrellas) provided by the pool. In the evening, enjoy the sunset, ordering one of the cocktails from the poolside bar (Woo Bar).

What cocktail should you order? Well, there are lots of choices, but the sweet, tart and spicy alcoholic cocktail garnished with chili, the Chili Infused Mojito Cocktail, is the bar’s most popular drink. If you stay here from Monday to Thursday, visit during happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM, where there’s a 2-for-1 deal on cocktails, which come with a free pizza!

Fire dining

fire dining

A complimentary breakfast is available with some room rates at Fire Restaurant. However, if you stay at one of the hotel’s villas or suites, you will have a choice of eating at Starfish Bloo Restaurant, which has many choices fresh seafood including sashimi.

The breakfast buffet has various selections of delicious local and Continental cuisines, including Indian food (don’t miss dhalmakani, the spicy and thick red bean soup). For local foods, bebek betutu (fried duck with local herbs like turmeric and nutmeg) was my favorite.

Lunch and dinner are also delicious at Fire Restaurant. A few of their favorite dishes are Australian steak (did you know that the world’s best beef steak comes from Australia?) and foie gras. Fire Restaurant also has a good selection of desserts including waffles, pancakes and chocolate cupcakes.

Also check out their marvelous Sunday brunch, held every Sunday from 12 PM to 3.30 PM. It’s a buffet, mostly containing fresh seafood and steak, which also includes organic salads and free cocktails! Keep in mind that there is an additional fee to enjoy the Sunday brunch — it is not complimentary with room rates.

Impressive stay

Other amenities include a spa (Away Spa), a gym, as well as a private beach (free entrance for hotel guests). Most importantly, the staff are the hotel’s greatest asset; service is great from check in until check out. From receptionists to housekeeping staff and pool attendants, everyone is so professional and they are very attentive to details. I noticed that the welcome mats in front of the hotel’s elevators are changed several times per day to greet guests with Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Good Night! Also, tell a staff member if someone who stays with you is having a birthday; they will prepare a birthday cake in your room! Regardless of it being your first, second or third time staying in this hotel, you will definitely wish to stay here again!
