Krefeld just lies a few miles northwest of Dusseldorf. Also called “Velvet and Silk City”, the city was once much smaller, only getting its size when it merged with Uerdingen in 1929. In 1940, Krefeld-Uerdingen was just shortened to Krefeld to become the city that we know today.
