Best known for the ancient Sensō-Ji temple, a very popular Buddhist temple built in the 7th century, this town also has several other attractions and festivals that people around the world come to see. For accommodation, vacation rentals and ryokans are also available, not to mention several unique hotels and guest houses. On Nakamise Street where the temple is located, you would find a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs. Yakitori restaurants are scattered across Asakusa, serving grilled meat skewers and beer. This historic town does not lack modern fascination as the Tokyo SkyTree Tower offers enough of that. Penguin dino collaboration! Sumida Aquarium’s summer special exhibit!
Summertime usually means dinosaur exhibits. At Tokyo’s Sumida Aquarium is a unique new event this summer which pairs together the unlikely combo of penguins and the giant reptiles. Open only for a limited time, between July 7th, and September 21st, you will be entertained by penguins coming out of pools and walking up to dinosaur fossil displays.
This is the scenery I found while headed to Skytree on a bicycle
Tokyo Skytree has always been something I looked at from far away. 1 in 8 Japanese have visited within the first 100 days of it being open. That's an incredible number of people isn't it? This time I headed there on a rental bicycle.
Asakusa Sensoji Temple: The 5 spots I recommend!
Sensoji Temple is a famous place and symbol of Asakusa. It’s a temple with a 1400 year history that’s filled with things to see, like Kaminarimon, Hozomon, the Five Story Pagoda, and more. However, there are so many things to see, you might have trouble deciding which ones you should check out. In order to get the most out of Sensoji, which will be even more popular with the completion of the Sky Tree, I’ll introduce my recommended spots.
