The 208-room Quin Hotel, situated in the heart of New York’s bustling music, arts and shopping district, is a luxury lifestyle property with some nice modern touches. From respected architecture and interior design firm Perkins Eastman, the newly imagined Quin breathes life into a building that was once the center of New York’s Beaux-Arts movement. Artists such as Georgia O’Keefe and Marc Chagall called the building (formerly the Buckingham Hotel) home for years, and today these artistic traditions live on in the styling and atmosphere of the Quin.
Rooms have a luxurious feel to them, with Duxiana beds, Sferra Venetian linens, and bathroom fixtures by Toto, as well as a high-tech edge (Evolve touch screen tablets that control lighting, window shades and in-room media). A fun selection of artisanal snacks are offered in the mini-bar, and Bergdorf Goodman Personal Shopping is on the room’s direct dial button. What more could you want?
Fitness fans will love the hotel’s 74sqm gym outfitted with top-of-the-line Technogym equipment, and the lobby’s 24-hour drawing room and business center make for a nice oasis to get some work done or relax.
Concierges at the Quin (called Attachés) go above and beyond the normal role of guest services to satisfy every guest’s whim, functioning more like “luxury lifestyle managers,” as the hotel calls them. We found no request too small.
The Quin features an in-depth art collection of its own, with original artwork in most rooms—so art lovers should definitely pay attention to what’s on the walls at this excellent new Manhattan hotel.
While the hotel has an adjoining restaurant (the Wayfarer), you'd be excused for looking further afield for dining options, especially when one of the best steakhouses in town is a few blocks away: the outstanding Quality Meats. The acclaimed Trattoria Dell'Arte is also in the vicinity, and it's a dining experience you should not miss!
