Corralejo is a lovely town on the northeast coast of Fuerteventura, the second largest of Spain’s Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean 100 kilometers (62 miles) off the north coast of Africa. Known for its windy, dune-backed beaches like Playa del Moro, the town is a top ranked place for summer holidays, and despite the number of tourists rushing here every summer, the former fishing village near the harbour and main beach of the town still has charm, with narrow uneven streets, good seafood restaurants and even a fisherman’s cottage or two.

Miles of sand dunes to the south of town and fabulous broad sandy beaches will please every tourist but in addition to the resort town itself, the area has also a lot of things to offer such as the nearby Lobos Island, Corralejo Natural Park home to endangered wildlife, and the Montaña Roja, a volcano with panoramic views. From surfing, windsurfing, and waterskiing to sightseeing and discovery hikes, the surroundings will fulfill any traveler’s expectations and, in this article, we’ll look at 7 great things to do around the city.
