There is lots to do in Dapoli aside from splashing around in the pristine waters and visiting its age old temples. 1. Tour the Harnai Port


Situated near Dapoli, the Harnai Port consists of two forts, Suvarnadurg and Kanakdurga. Kanakdurga is a land fort and Suvarnadurg is a sea fort. Harnai Port is the largest supplier of fish in the whole of Maharashtra State in India. Hundreds of fishing boats come back loaded with fish and take part in the local auction of fish twice a day at 9.00 am and 4.00 pm. Tourists gather in large numbers to witness the fish auctions and also take part in them as well.

2. Water sports at Murud Beach


Murud Beach is located in the town of Murud on the Konkan coastline of Maharashtra and is around 11 km (6.8 mi) from Dapoli. The Murud Beach is a long stretch of clear blue water with swaying palm trees, with the beach stretching for a few kilometers. Murud Beach has water sport facilities and one can see dolphins here as well.

3. Get enamoured by nature at the Ladghar Beach


Ladghar Beach is situated at Ladghar, which is 8 kilometers (5 mi) from Dapoli. It is known as a ‘holy beach’ because of its religious significance. The beach is clean and is free from pollution, and is beautiful around sunset. Some part of the beach is covered with colored pebbles and boulders, which creates a beach-rock collector’s paradise indeed.

4. Tranquility at the Panhalekaji Caves


Panhalekaji is around 20 km (12 mi) from Dapoli. It is famous for its rock-cut caves, situated on the bank of River Kotjai. They are ancient man-made caves and are believed to be 1,000 years old. There are a total of 29 rock-cut caves, both big and small, spread along the river bank. The caves are located deep inside the valley, surrounded by deep forests and rivers. There are Hindu and Buddhist carvings and statues in the caves.

5. Healing at the Unhavare hot springs


Unhavare village is located at 20 kilometers (12 mi) from Dapoli. It is famous for its natural hot springs and is nestled in the heart of the neighbouring valley, on the banks of a river surrounded by hills, forests and farms. The natural hot springs have boiling spring water, which comes up from deep inside the earth and flows down from the rocks and is cooled by a breeze from the river. The clear hot spring water has a faint smell and taste of sulphur, which is known to have medicinal values and cures skin diseases.

6. Visit the Kadyavarcha Ganapati


The famous Kadyavarcha Temple was built in 1,150 AD in Anjarle in Konkan, Maharashtra. It is famous for the ‘Kadyawarcha Ganpati’ or Ganesh Temple, built on a cliff. The temple was constructed using wooden pillars and draws thousands of people to visit throughout the year.

7. Tour the Keshavraj Temple


Keshavraj Temple is located in Asud Baug near Dapoli and is situated on a small hillock. A perfect place to be rejuvenated as it is located in the centre of nature. The ancient temples of Keshavraj and Vyagreshwar are located here at a distance of 8 km (5 mi) from Dapoli on the Harnai Road.

8. Meditate at the Parshuram Bhoomi


Parshuram Bhoomi is situated 11 km (6.8 mi) from Dapoli. There is a huge 3.5 meter (21 feet) Parshuram Statue with a diameter of 12 m (40 feet), with half the world below his feet in a dome shape, placed at the hill top from where you will get a scenic view of Tamstirtha sea. It has a meditation hall inside and is good for photography also.
