1. Chimney Rock State Park


Aside from being offering the usual park amenities, Chimney Rock State Park is actually more famous for its hiking trail. Once you reach the peak of the mountain, you will have a majestic view of the Lake Lure, the Hickory Nut Gorge, and the surrounding countryside. It is 315-foot (96 meter) tall and is made up of granite monolith. But don’t be discouraged by its height because there are trails for all levels whether you are an amateur hiker or not! Admission fee going up the mountain can be paid at the principal Chimney Rock Access although if you are on a tight budget, you might want to opt for the nearby Rumbling Bald Climbing is free of admission and offers on of the park’s six trails.

2. Lake Lure Flowering Bridge


Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is actually a highway bridge between Chimney Rock Village and Lake Lure Beach and continues past Morse Park. Expect to see different types of plants and flowers here as you pass by. Oftentimes, you will see volunteers adding different types of plants and flowers, or weeding and checking the plants.

3. Beach at Lake Lure & Water Works


Considered as one of the most well known landmarks, Lake Lure Beach and Water Parks are definitely a go to place to Lake Lure! This one is for the kids and for the kids at heart! Right Track Toy Train Museum showcases trains from the early 1900s up until the present time. They have a playroom for kids which is of course, train-themed and a gift shop of train memorabilia that you and your kids will surely love!

But other than satisfying the kid in you, The Right Track Museum is not just built to give joy to its customers and viewers, but also to help those that has pancreatic cancer. All the profits that they get go to the pancreatic cancer research.

5. Lake Lure & The Blue Ridge Foothills


If this place rings a bell to you, it’s because it was featured in the film Dirty Dancing! North Carolina’s Lake Lure & The Blue Ridge Foothills gives you a majestic view and experience of their different scenery. Drive by their iconic landmarks like the Chimney Rock State Park and Blue Ridge Mountains and experience their outdoor adventures like boat cruises, cycling or mountain biking, golf, equestrian, hunting and fishing, rock climbing, and ziplining!

6. Morse Park

A place popular for sightseeing, casual strolling, picnics, and the like. Morse Park showcases a part of the mountains of Hickory Nut Gorge and also consists of four distinct areas, the meadow, the gardens, the wetlands, and the riverside. Apart from these, their amenities and facilities also include two lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, playset for kids, picnic tables, walking/jogging paths, a multi-purpose field ideal for festival events and other recreational uses, a large covered gazebo for events, fishing areas, restrooms, and parking spaces. Bike it, run it, climb it. Explore it your way! is the famous tagline of Buffalo Creek Park. This park is for those who seek greater challenge and adventure that involves a lot of physical activity. Cyclists and mountaineers usually bike and climb here to test their fitness. According to their website, the park is nearing completion of another eight miles of trail, ascending another 2, 000 feet (600 m) to reach ridge lines and scenic viewpoints! It is also the only mountain bike trail system within a 20-minute radius of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park.

An interesting find for the vintage lovers. The Hickory Nut Antique is situated right between the Chimney Rock Village and the Town of Lake Lure. You’ll never find a more inviting shop than The Hickory Nut Antiques store which welcomes you with its flowering plants and seasonal decors on its exteriors and on the inside yu will find different types of decor such as Native American artifacts, crafts, quilts, and a lot more antique and home decor!

The owner, Shari, always brings in something new to the store so people would have something to look forward to every time. The plants and the flowers you see outside her store is also her work of art which she grows and sells.
