2. Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre


On March 28, 1977, the Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre opened. With a 360 seat auditorium and a 60 seat studio theatre, it’s the largest theatre in Taunton! The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre is a multi-purpose centre for arts organizations, community groups, and businesses. 4. Hestercombe Gardens

Hestercombe Gardens is covered with a rich, diverse history. This estate was the first estate from the Anglo-Saxton, and it’s the remaining estate from medieval times. The estate has gone through multiple renovations; in 1904, the gardens were an addition to help embellish the Hestercombe estate. Now, the Hestercombe Gardens is opened for visitors and tourists. Inside the Hestercombe Gardens, there’s an art gallery, the Column Room Restaurant, and a second hand bookshop. The Hestercombe Gardens is used for several functions especially weddings. 5. Museum of Somerset


Right in the heart of Taunton, the Museum of Somerset is in a 12th-century Taunton castle! All the county’s prehistoric times to present day are housed inside for preservation. There are real objects, interactive games, film projections, and words from the people of Somerset: past and present. The museum hosts a variety of events such as evening talks, music, and an outdoor theatre. In addition, it’s a venue for special occasions such as group tours and birthday parties. The History Trail is a walking trail put together by the Somerset Wildlife Trust. The trail celebrates the history and heritage of the people and the town of Taunton. 9. Somerset Space Walk

Along the bridge-water of the Taunton Canal, the Somerset Space Walk is an earthbound, international spacewalk. This walk is a model of the Solar System, and the walk is approximately 22 kilometers (13 mi). The sun model is located on the Higher Maunsel Lock. 10. Wellington Monument


Located on the Blackdown Hills, the Wellington Monument stands tall. The Wellington Monument was dedicated to the Duke of Wellington. As a matter of fact, October 21st marks the 200th anniversary of the Wellington Monument’s foundation. Other than this featured obelisk, there’s a walking trail known as the Monument meander. It’s a rich meadow around the Wellington Monument. You can picnic or enjoy a leisurely walk here.
