4. Take a journey through The Canopy Walkway of Penang National Park
Penang National Park’s vast rainforest will certainly capture the imagination of children. Explore the lush scenery through the 150-meter-long Canopy Walkway, which takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete. It will give you a bird’s-eye-view of the different exotic trees. Tickets range from 0.67 to 1 USD and can be bought from the park’s registration office. Entopia, also known as Penang Butterfly Farm, was founded by insect expert David Goh to provide Malaysia with a deeper understanding of Entomology. Opened in March 1986, the farm is inhabited by over 4,000 colorful butterflies from 120 species. Take pictures of the Indian Leafl, the Yellow Bird Wing, the Rajah Brooke, and many more. It also houses different kinds of insects and reptiles and over 300 species of plants. This tropical attraction is located in Teluk Behang, and is recognized worldwide as a breeding center. You can let the butterflies paw at you, but please be reminded that touching them is prohibited.

7. Visit the Snake Temple
The temple was built by Buddhist priest Chor Soo Kong in 1850. According to legend, the priest used the site as a safe haven for snakes and after his death, more snakes started moving in. Located in Bayang Lepas near Penang Airport, the Snake Temple houses poisonous reptiles such as green tree snakes and Wagler’s pit vipers. Despite their reputation, the snakes in the temple are calm and harmless. It’s been said that the smell of incense keeps them tranquil, but others claim that they are generally from a friendly breed. Still, it’s advisable for you and the young ones to stay cautious while exploring the area. You can take photos of the snakes as they crawl peacefully through fruit trees and plants. The well-preserved Buddhist sculptures and carvings and the 600-pound Manchurian Dynasty bell are worth seeing as well. It’s open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and admission is free.

10. Penang Bird Park
For a feathery escapade, visit Penang Bird Park, which is the first and largest bird park in Malaysia. This place is home to different species of birds for breeding and conservation purposes.
