The quite town of Forney is similar to other small towns in the sprawling web of Texas highways. It has quaint homes on tree-lined streets, and a small downtown area that is decorated with antique buildings that harken back to the city’s history. Forney is located on the eastern end of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metroplex, and is a great pit-stop area for those traveling in, or out, of the DFW area. 1. Zombie Safari

Become the hero of a post zombie apocalypse at Zombie Safari Dallas. At this zombie hunt, guests will pile into one of three different types of vehicles that are equipped with .50 caliber or .68 caliber paintball guns to fend off the zombie assault. Guests have said that in addition to having a great time shooting zombies, the staff was friendly and entertaining. Zombie Safari is a great activity for both adults and younger guests.

2. Spellman Museum of Forney History

The Spellman Museum of Forney is located in the historical area of Forney, located diagonally across the Main Street intersection from the City of Forney Government Office. The museum is a showcase of photographs and artifacts that display the history of Forney. Individual exhibits include highlights of Native Americans, agriculture, the Great Depression, and early wildlife. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11am to 6pm (open until 8pm on Thursdays), and is closed Sunday through Tuesday. Admission to the museum is free for all, but donations are greatly appreciated.

3. The Gentle Zoo

The Gentle Zoo is a great place for some family fun. The zoo features a petting zoo, playground, train ride, giant maze, indoor party room, and more. The zoo also has seasonal events, such as a pumpkin patch, holiday events, and Easter events. Admission is 6 USD for all guests, but children under 12 months are free. The zoo is open Tuesday through Friday 9.30am to 2pm, Saturday 9.30am to 5pm, Sunday 11am to 5pm.

4. Rockwall County Historical Foundation

Located about a 30 minute drive north of Forney, in the town of Rockwall, is the Rockwall County Historical Foundation. The building holding the museum is said to be the oldest building in all of Rockwall. The museum’s objective is to chronicle and preserve the history of Rockwall County through artifacts and memorabilia donated through the years by its residents. Guests are free to walk through the museum and grounds on their own or with the company of a guide. 5. Chisholm Trail Rides

About a 20-minute drive north of Forney is Chisholm Trail Rides. This center offers private trail rides or horseback riding lessons. Both adults and children are welcome to ride here. Reservations can range from single riders to groups of 8. A 1-hour trail ride or lesson is 40 USD per person. There are longer sessions available for a higher price.

6. Devil’s Bowl Speedway

About a 15-minute drive west from Forney is the town of Mesquite, and the Devil’s Bowl Speedway. This community staple is known for its dirt track car races and special community events held year round. The track often features sprint cars and stock cars. Guests have said it’s a great place to gather for some weekend fun, and that the quality of the racing was top notch compared to other community racing scenes.

7. Xcape Adventures

For a great experience with a group, or to make some new friends, you should go to Xcape Adventures. Xcape specializes in making the best escape room experience possible and is positively rated by its many patrons. To play with others it is 20 USD, and to make groups reservations it is up to either 140 USD or 180 USD depending on the room type you are reserving. Most rooms are made for up to 8 players, but there is one room that is suitable for up to 10 players. Xcape is open Fridays and Saturdays 10am to 9.30pm, and Sunday 4pm to 9.30pm.

8. Aim High Bounce

This is a great spot for kids to get some fun indoors. Aim High Bounce is home to numerous inflatables, including: bounce houses, waterslides, and obstacle courses. The facility is available for reservations and makes a great venue for birthday parties. Aim High has open gym Thursdays and Friday 10am to 9pm, and Saturday to Sunday 10am to 9pm.

9. Trinity Forest Adventure Park

Trinity Forest Adventure Park is located just a 20-minute drive from Forney, within the perimeter created by Interstate-20. The adventure park is home to a variety of activities, including: military style obstacle courses and zip lines. There are 4 different difficulty levels of the courses, so guests of most ages can participate. Trinity Forest is open Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturdays 10am to 6pm, and Sundays 10am to 5pm. Adult tickets are 49.95 USD, children (ages 10-15) are 44.95 USD, children (ages 6-9) are 39.95 USD, and seniors, military, and groups over 8 are all 39.95 USD. There is also a 4-person pass that is 155 USD. The park is open holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

10. Keith and Margo’s Murder Mystery Texas

Located in downtown Dallas, Keith and Margo’s Murder Mystery is another great activity to do with a group of friends. This is an interactive experience in which teams come together to solve a murder mystery in which they are the suspects. There is a dress code of upscale casual. Men are to wear nice shirts and slacks (jackets and ties are not required), women are to wear slacks, pantsuits, or cocktail dresses. The show is not recommended for children under 13. The venue is located right near Cotton Bowl Stadium, making it easy access to and from the rest of Dallas.
