4. Michel Sarran

Michel Sarran is another gem in Toulouse. This classy restaurant serves dishes created by chef Michel Sarran and has been awarded two Michelin stars. The food is inventive, scrumptious, and artistically presented. You’re going to want to snap some pictures before you eat it but as soon as you try it, you’ll forget everything, including Instagram likes. If you can afford it, treat yourself!

5. L’aubrac

Vegetarians, look away! L'aubrac is the kind of restaurant a meat lover can’t resist. Locals love it, tourists love it… what can we say, c'est magnifique! The meat is cooked over an open fire by chefs who understand meat as no one else does. The menu consists of a large basket of around 12 different saucissons secs (dried sausages), from which you can cut as much as you like. Then you get a plate of ham and foie gras.

Only after that do you get either duck, steak or lamb. Of course, you can also eat a salad if this is too much meat for you. However, you should definitely try the duck with sliced fried potatoes and enjoy every bite of L'aubrac’s excellent dishes.

6. Le Colombier

Best known for its delicious cassoulet (a stew made with meat and beans), Le Colombier is the perfect place to eat true comfort food. The desserts are to die for: ris de veau (sweetbreads), chocolate fondant, apple pie… anything you’re craving, this restaurant has it. It may be pricey, but Le Colombier will make sure you remember Toulouse for its amazing taste.

7. Chez Vicente

This friendly tapas bar is located in the center of Toulouse and is a great place to go for snacks and drinks. The food is excellent and fresh, ideal for a summer evening. As it is one of the most popular restaurants in the city, (even though it serves Spanish food, not French), Chez Vicente is always full, so if you’d like to have a more relaxing meal experience, we don’t recommend it. However, if you don’t mind a packed restaurant, you should definitely try it and figure out why it’s so popular.

8. La Faim des Haricots

This vegetarian restaurant is already special for the fact that it exists in a meat-loving city. La Faim des Haricots is the best place in Toulouse to go for a vegan buffet. Its delicious quiches and tarts are a treat for anyone who needs a lighter, healthier meal that is still tasty. If you want to try it, make a reservation first, as it can get very crowded. Your body, mind, and soul will thank you!

9. Le Grenier de Pépé

Ignore the creepy name (‘Grandpa’s Attic’), this small, family-run restaurant specializes in fondues and we swear you won’t find any better anywhere in Toulouse, than here! You can have a full meal, entirely made of crepes: a filling dinner crepe and a sweet crepe for dessert.

The meals are great for such a reasonable price, so this is the restaurant you should go to if you’re on a budget but still want to have a fantastic dinner!

10. Le Vélo Sentimental

Le Vélo Sentimental is a quirky little restaurant set on top of a bike shop. The food is entirely made of organic, local products, so your salad will be one of the best salads ever prepared in Toulouse. 11. Xavier Fromager Affineur

A ‘fromagerie’ is a 'cheese shop’, so if you’re a cheese lover, you can’t pass by this kind of place without going in! Fromagerie Xavier is cheese heaven: with alarming amounts of different cheeses on display, you’ll need the help of the lovely, knowledgeable staff to help you choose which kind you must try before you die.
