While Arizona is known for being the home of the Grand Canyon, the state, and specifically Eloy, is a great place for daredevils and bucket listers alike. In the heart of the Sonoran Desert lies Skydive Arizona, a business that will help you fulfill your lifelong dreams of jumping out of a plane and free falling for a few thousand feet. Easily the most exciting thing to do while visiting Eloy, skydiving literally takes you to a new level of adventure and excitement. The business was founded by Larry and Liliane Hill, in January of 1978, with a single Cessna 182 and a gravel airstrip, north of Phoenix. Their business has grown to proudly be the world’s largest skydiving center, averaging over 135,000 jumps per year.
Its own oasis in the center of a barren region, Skydive Arizona facilities surprise visitors with fresh green grass, a swimming pool, and trees, making the whole operation that much more unique. Equipment is sold on site, along with food, and facilities for bathing and laundry. Overnight guests are welcome, with bunks in the recreation hall and campsites available. But lush facilities aren’t what keeps the business flourishing. A dedicated, well-trained staff, equipped with aircraft like a Super Otters, Skyvans, a DC-3 and a Pilatus Porter, ensure that every customer is safe and well-attended to, giving each individual a superb time. What’s more, the surrounding area makes for the perfect drop zone as free-fallers don’t have to worry about undesirable obstacles on their decent. The area’s mild weather allows for over 340 jumping days per year, with low humidity keeping the skies clear year-round. It’s easy to see where the company gets its motto: “more sun, more jumps, more fun!”

While skydiving looks like a lot of fun, the sport simply isn’t for everyone. For example, in order to skydive, you must be a legal adult, meaning skydiving isn’t exactly a family-friendly trip. However, the good people at SkyVenture have worked around that problem by providing a facility where you can have all the fun of skydiving, indoors. No planes, no parachutes, and no heights, at SkyVenture you can free fall anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. Upon your arrival, you will be given the appropriate gear, and coached on basic skydiving techniques to more thoroughly enjoy your time at the facility. But don’t worry, before long SkyVenture Arizona will help you master new flying positions and advanced aerobatic skills. The best part is, children are welcome, so long as they are accompanied by a legal guardian.
