Hostel Suomenlinna has the most unique location of any accommodation on this list. It is situated upon the Suomenlinna fortress, a fortification built across six islands off the coast of Helsinki. Inside, the shared and private rooms are all sunny with colorful decorations and exposed brick walls. Guests share the communal kitchen, dining area, and bathrooms. While the hostel is removed from Helsinki by a fifteen minute ferry ride, this is not a deserted island by any means. Close by are a grocery store, cafes, historical sights, and the beach.
