Greer is located in the upstate region of South Carolina, with a population of approximately 28,000 people. The city was hunting ground for the local Cherokee tribe and was settled by pioneer families in the 1700s. One such family was James Manning Greer’s, the city’s namesake, with Scottish ancestry.

One of the lesser-known attractions in Greer is Suber’s Corn Mill. Open only from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturdays, this historical landmark processes corn into grits and animal feed, which are all sold locally. The staff and owners will be happy to welcome you to the mill and show you their daily workings. Suber’s Mill was established around 1908 and uses water power in their corn grinding. The mill is also one of the best places to get the best and the freshest cornmeal you’ll ever have!

5. Century Park


Greer’s Century Park is a great place to spend a few hours on a nice day, especially if you have children. The park has Kids Planet, an area with two play structures, picnic benches, pavilions, and a walking trail. There’s also a disc golf course which hosts an annual tournament. The park is home to the city’s baseball and softball diamonds, as well as concession stands.

Fishers Orchard has been around since 1930, providing Greer with fresh peaches. Their farm has a Pick-Your-Own option, where you can pick as many peaches as you’d like. They do warn that it is a working farm, so you should prepare to wear proper footwear, stay hydrated, and shield yourself from the sun.

They also have two farm stores in Greer, which sell fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as jams and ciders. If you’re in Greer in October, check out their fall festival. The farm has a maze and offers wagon rides. If you’re traveling with family, this place to go in Greer is a great way to spend some time. Kids love picking peaches, and you’ll leave with a basket of sweet fruit!
