Cathedrale St Nicholas is a sacred place of worship for the Roman Catholics. A Cathedral is bigger and more established compared to a church. Named after St Nicholas, the Catholics in Fribourg love this Gothic-style architecture church. It was completed way back in the year 1430 and took almost 150 years to complete the construction. Apparently it is very intricate inside, as common in all Catholic churches, with figurines of Mother Mary and her son Jesus. There are also variously designed stained glass windows, that you can view and admire. The stained glass windows are brightly lit up when sunlight falls on the glass, giving a myriad of colors through the religious pictures depicted on them. You’ll see pictures of Saints, flowers and such. The stained glass windows were created by the Polish painter Jozef Mehoffer, who was born in 1896 and lived up to a relatively young age of 40.

You can try Furnicular Fribourg, the tramsway in Switzerland. The funicular was started in 1899 due to the initiative of Paul-Alcide Blancpain, and its construction was begun. Created to connect the upper altitude city of Neuveville, which is a working class area characterized by commercial and industrial buildings, the funicular takes a much socio-cultural and historical importance. Furnicular Fribourg is two, two-axle cars, each weighing about 8 tonnes. From January to April 2014, the funicular was disconnected from operating. This major revision cost a whopping 400,000 Swiss francs, which was exorbitant at that time. There are about 70 daily return trips and the funicular is open from 7 am to 7 pm from September to May. It is opend from 7 am to 8 pm from June to August and from 9:30 am to 7 pm on Sundays. 3. See a Bern Bridge, lovely old town bridges

While in Fribourg, Switzerland, you can also see a Bern Bridge. By the way, Bern is the capital of the Canton of Bern, the second most populated area of Switzerland. For the record, there is a list of 18 bridges spanning the River Aare in Bern, Switzerland. The construction of the high level bridges started in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Some of the bridges include Neubrügg, which means “new bridge,” which was built in 1466 to replace a ferry. Others include Nydeggbrücke, the first high level bridge, which is sheathed in sandstone. Its main arch is the widest in Europe. Then there is also Dalmazibrücke, which is a riverbank-level bridge in the Marzili neighborhood. As there are so many bridges in Bern, you can choose one that is shorter to walk across or even take a cab to ride across it for a scenic view of the River Aare. Apparently it is a long river, as there are 18 bridges built to connect to the other side of the river bank. This helps in the economic elevation of Fribourg and makes the transportation more efficient, compared to taking ferries or boats just to get across to the other side. The bridges also serve as tourist attractions, with their historical structures and architectural frames. Some are wooden, while others are made of stone and more. Don’t forget to go for a cab ride across a Bern Bridge whenever you are in Fribourg.
