If you find yourself in Hawthorn on a beautiful Saturday morning and you’re looking for the best places to eat, look no further than this article.

Hawthorn is an inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The home of Hawthorn Football Club of AFL, it is situated just 6 km (3.7 miles) east of the Melbourne central business district.

It’s a very safe area with upper-middle-class families who live in big and beautiful houses, private schools, and the home of Swinburne University. Glenferrie Road is the main shopping area, which is also the main area where most of the cool cafes are located.

Hawthorn is the ultimate breakfast area and a place to be seen in Melbourne, especially for youngsters. Whether you’re catching up with your friends, hungover or hungry, you will be spoiled with choices for your morning meals.

So, why don’t you try some trendy cafes in Hawthorn that offer delicious breakfast?

In this huge, glistening white tiled café, the bread is being baked, coffee is being roasted, and kale is being blitzed into verdant green smoothies.

Each platter has its own philosophy of freshness, put into action by the chef. How about a party platter of carrots? It’s a fresh and peppy mountain of purple haze and sweet little Dutch numbers, which have been pureed, pickled, shaved into ribbons or fried, fronds and all, in a thick batter. It makes them more like veg-stuffed churros than the tempura batons they’re billed as, but they are tasty mouthfuls of crunch, nonetheless.

Or try the zesty grain salad that combines nutty wild rice, quinoa and a full hiker’s lunchbox worth of pepitas, sunflower seeds and raisins with black tomatoes so acid-sweet it’s like a whole new species of the fruit. Add a green smoothie, with grapes, kiwi, apple and kale if you really want to exfoliate your insides.

If you like an energizing morning in your weekend, every Saturday, a yoga class takes place between the garden beds on the deck at 7.30am.

5. Breakfast to die for at Muharam Café

Editor's Note: Photo taken from the establishment's official social account

The famous “to die for” pick at the Muharam Café is none other than the Red Velvet pancakes. The trio of pancakes are served on a wooden board and topped beautifully with berries and cream cheese. The pancakes are well complemented by the smooth cream cheese. Combined with the slight sourness of the strawberries, pouring the rich chocolate sauce onto these edible works of art only added to their deliciousness.

Muharam Café is a cute little café situated at the corner of Burwood Rd. and Power St. in Hawthorn. The rustic interior, cute antique chairs and tables, cool music and cozy atmosphere, both inside and in the courtyard outside, are so inviting.

Order the Coffee Supreme latte to accompany your breakfast. It has just the right consistency, temperature and strength. Or you can order a Flat White, if you prefer less milk in your coffee.

For other options, the Mexican Bowl makes for a hearty and healthy feed. Filled to the brim with a variety of fresh and wholesome ingredients, hidden underneath the beautifully presented bowl is a generous amount of black, squid-ink rice. With complementary flavours like sweet potato and avocado, coupled with light ricotta, it’s such a comfort breakfast food.
