Located in the city center, Happy House Hostel is often described as an oasis in middle of Santiago. The building is a vintage house built decades ago, and was refurbished as a hostel in 2010. Although the building is quite old, it is still standing strong until this very day, even after the earthquakes that have hit Chile in the past years. When seen from the streets, the hostel looks like any other vintage building in the area. However, when stepping in, you enter a whole new world.

Upon entering the hostel, guests shall be greeted by the bright and roomy lobby. The lobby shows right away the original design and concept of the building that is still preserved by the hostel. Even though Happy House Hostel has a vintage vibe, it also has a touch of modern, which can be seen from the furniture and color choices throughout the hostel.

One of the favorite places in the hostel among the guests is the backyard. Happy House Hostel backyard is basically the place that any traveler would dream of. The backyard is a large open space consisting of a swimming pool, which opens during the warmer days in Santiago, and two higher terraces equipped with a pool table, Ping-Pong table, mini football table, etc. This famous backyard is a favorite place for travelers to do work, socialize, party and even have a barbecue together.

Happy House Hostel offers private single, double, triple and quadruple rooms along with 6-bed and 8-bed dorms. The dorm rooms are equipped with a locker for your bags (guests must have their own padlock) and also a shoe rack, which is great since hostels don’t normally include organization for footwear. The private rooms are equipped with a working space, and heater is available in those rooms as well as in the common areas. The dorms at Happy House Hostel are quite spacious and bright, so even if the room is shared, the room is still bright and comfortable.

How to get to and around Happy House Hostel

Happy House Hostel is located in the center of Santiago and is a part of one of the most historical neighborhoods, Barrio Brasil. Therefore, the hostel can be reached very easily by public transportation. Travelers arriving from the airport can take the shuttle bus, Centropuerto, until Metro Los Heroes, and walk (direction) for about five minutes. Travelers arriving at the bus station can directly take the metro to Metro Los Heroes and walk to the hostel.

Getting around Happy House Hostel is also super easy. There are many destinations that can be reached on foot, such as Barrio Brasil, Barrio Yungai, Palacio La Moneda (the presidential palace in Santiago), Plaza de Armas, etc. The hostel also has an area filled with maps and information regarding free walking tours, wine related activities, bike tours, etc. The hostel is also a meeting point for one the walking tours, so guests can just wait at the lobby.
