A Lot Of Thai Cooking Class is taught by Yui, who was featured on Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Gordon’s Great Escape: Thailand’ in 2010. Yui’s classes are a full day starting with her picking you up in her custom VW bus to take you to her house where she teaches a total of 10 students how to make six dishes.

Yui teaches you from her Chiang Mai home in her outdoor kitchen. Don’t worry, there are plenty of fans to keep you cool while you’re learning how to cook in this Thai-style kitchen.

Learning how to cook Thai food from a passionate chef

A lot of thai cooking class

Yui’s cooking class is unlike others you may have taken in the past. Yui’s practice is showing you how to cook one dish, and then you go to your station to prepare the meal. After you complete the dish, you sit with everyone and eat it while it’s hot, before you move on to the next.

During her teaching, Yui explains each ingredient she uses and will show you tips and tricks on how to chop and peel each one. In the full-day course, you will learn how to make six traditional dishes. There are different dishes made on each day of the week.

Check her schedule to see which one you’d like to learn. If you don’t have time to take her full-day course, you can book her half-day lesson where you will learn three dishes.

Tour the market during a mid-class break

After learning how to make three dishes, you will take a break and head to a local market where Yui will talk you through more of the ingredients and tell you how to pick them from the market and what to look for.

During this time, you can also grab a fruit smoothie or coffee as a nice intermittent refreshment. The market tour lasts about 40 minutes then it’s off to cook the last three dishes of the day back at her home.

Yui was featured on Gordon Ramsay’s “Gordon’s Great Escape: Thailand” in 2010. After the show had been aired, Yui was offered her own cooking show, which she turned down.

Yui is very passionate about cooking and teaching others her skills. She prefers to teach classes directly to you instead of through a big production. She also doesn’t advertise and all promotion is through word-of-mouth.

Make your new creations at home

Yui gives you alternative suggestions to help you use your new skills back in your own country. Her passion is infectious and will get you excited to go home and cook all the dishes you created at her class. Her class is so fun and easy to follow, you may want to take more than one!

Yui offers half-day classes from 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM at 1,200 THB (34.25 USD) and full-day classes from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM at 1,500 THB (42.82 USD). All classes include roundtrip transportation in the VW bus from the Chiang Mai downtown area and her cookbook so you can focus on cooking instead of taking notes during her class.
