Singburi (sometimes also written as Sing Buri) is one of the provinces of Central Thailand. A fairly rural province, it declares itself as being the “spiritual heartland” of the country. Home to a handful of local attractions, it is a nice place to explore a side of Thailand that has been virtually untouched by foreign tourism.

The Grand Leo Hotel enjoys a great location in the centre of the main provincial town. Close to all local amenities and transportation hubs, the spacious, clean, and modern rooms offer high standards of comfort.

Good room facilities for an enjoyable stay

The air-conditioned rooms at the Grand Leo Hotel are large with ample storage space in the wooden wardrobes and drawers. Rooms have a small refrigerator / mini bar with complimentary drinking water and a decent selection of drinks and snacks (additional costs apply). Each room has cable TV with a good selection of channels in Thai, English, and other languages, as well as a telephone with outside line access. Rooms also have a small seating area with two wooden chairs, an integrated dressing table / desk with a stool, and a large mirror.

The bathrooms have hot water showers over a bathtub and free mini toiletries. The water pressure is powerful, even at peak times of the morning and evening.

Most rooms have large private balconies, although the view may only be of the neighbouring building’s wall!

The price is really reasonable, with a night costing just 500 THB (approximately 14 USD).

Soft beds and convenient controls for room electronics

Rooms at the Grand Leo Hotel are available with either a double bed or two single beds. The mattresses are very soft, the pillows are plump, and the thick duvet is perfect for snuggling under! Crank up the air-conditioning for a pleasantly cool room and enjoy the feeling of being cosy in bed whilst you flick through the TV channels.

Thick curtains at the window mean that you needn’t wake up as the sun comes up!

Next to the bed there is a moveable control panel that operates all of the lights in the room, as well as the TV and air-conditioning. It also has an alarm clock function, although you may need to set the clock to the correct time first. Forgot to turn out the bathroom light? No problem! There’s no need to even get out of bed; simply press the button right next to you!

Onsite restaurant and other hotel features

The hotel has its own restaurant, Sing Sabai Restaurant. It serves popular Thai dishes such as pork and chicken fried rice (Khao Pad Moo / Gai), stir-fried vegetables over boiled rice (Pad Pak Rad Khao), and omelet (Khai Jiow). Room service is also available and you can buy a selection of chilled drinks to enjoy in your room.

Luggage storage facilities are available if you plan on exploring the area more after the check-out time and the reception operates around the clock. Laundry services are also offered.

The hotel has 70 guest rooms spread over four floors. There is a lift. Note that if you want to reach the reception / lobby area it is the button marked “1” in the lift. If you press “0” you may get a creepy shock when the doors slide open to reveal a dank and dark basement!

Although the hotel advertises free Wi-Fi in rooms and common areas, this was not the case at the time of stay. Members of staff advised that the routers do not work on the different floors and that Wi-Fi is actually only available in the lobby. There are comfortable seats in the lobby but unfortunately, the Wi-Fi did not work there either. Staff members were helpful and tried resetting the router, entering the password themselves into the laptop, and so on, but the Wi-Fi just didn’t want to play that day. If you are dependent on internet access, it might be better to rethink your accommodation options.

Central location close to the heart of town

Whilst Singburi town itself does not have much of interest for tourists, the large Chaisaeng Shopping Centre is just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. There is a large swimming pool next to the shopping centre and an assortment of food vendors opposite. You can also walk to a large food market within just a few minutes and the bus station is around a ten-minute walk from the Grand Leo Hotel. Regular buses connect the town with Bangkok, Lopburi, Chainat, and other destinations in Central Thailand. Local buses operate from the same bus station. The minivan station can also be found at the bus station, as well as a few tuk tuks and motorbike taxis.

One of the province’s main temples, Wat Phra Non Jaksi Worawihan, can be reached in around 15 minutes by tuk tuk / car / motorbike taxi. It is known for its enormous reclining Buddha statue. The temple’s name is also sometimes spelt as Wat Phra Non Chaksi / Chakkrasi Woravihan / Woraviharn / Worawiharn.

A comfortable hotel with a convenient location, book your stay at the Grand Leo Hotel when visiting Singburi.
