When we are on vacation, most of us forget about getting their daily exercises in. However, some of us need their daily routine exercise, no matter where they are. If it is hitting the gym at the hotel or going for a run, you may be one of those who need to stay active, even during your vacations. In Hawaii, whether you are fitness crazy or a more relaxed traveler, you have to try beach yoga at least once! The class I would like to recommend is sunset candle light beach yoga with Julia. Magic Island is a part of Ala Moana Beach Park, which is located right in front of the famous Ala Moana Shopping Center, little away from Waikiki tourists’ craziness.

As the sun sets, candlelight starts illuminating the beach.

Yoga has become an internationally celebrated form of exercise for many people around the world. Whether you are an experienced yogi or still new to yoga, this sunset candle light beach yoga is so Hawaii-like and so special that there is no way you won’t like it! Where else on earth can you have a relaxing and beautiful beach yoga practice all year round without worrying about the cold?

Yoga practice watching the shining sunset and the blue sky!

This sunset candle light beach yoga is held twice a week on every Monday and Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. During summer, yogis gather at the park before the sky is still very blue and light. However, as your one-hour session goes by, the Sun starts to set and the sky slowly gets darker and darker, exhibiting a beautiful Hawaiian sunset during your yoga practice. By the time you are done with your practice and the final meditation, you open your eyes with a complete scenery change, with a beautiful Hawaii night view and high-rise condos shining behind by the park.

The group is small and intimate. Yoga for any level!

This class is open to any level, but if you are an experienced yogi, Julia can provide you some flexibility with the practice here and there so that you can still get your own practice. After all, yoga is for everyone and each of you can have your own intentions whatever the session you join. The scenery is so special that it’s not only about yoga: you really are there to enjoy the Hawaiian nature while doing something fun.

After the sunset, you are surrounded by a completely different scenery.

Because of the beautiful setting, you won’t notice the hour passing. At the end of each session, Julia gives you a quick massage (massage spots sometimes change, and if it is not for you, you can ask to pass the massage) for your body to feel even more refreshed and relaxed. It is a donation-based yoga session, so before or after each session, you want to donate the appropriate amount to the dedicated jar. Just to give you an idea, donations are usually around 10 USD, although if you are on a tight budget, it could be a little less than that. On the contrary, if you had a great experience, you can be little more generous! It is all up to you.

One of a kind yoga experience

This sunset candle light beach yoga is open to everyone, so even if you are in Hawaii for a few days and want to drop in once, the class is open for you as well. Of course, if you are staying in Hawaii a bit longer, it might be a good idea to make a habit of attending every week or twice a week to get the most out of your Hawaii outdoor experience! (You can sign up in advance from the meetup link in the memo section.) Furthermore, the park is where the locals enjoy beach life, from early morning surfing, Tai chi, jogging, and fishing for the weekend barbecue. Thus, if your travel partner is not much into yoga, he/she can also enjoy a different outdoor activity while you take this yoga practice. There is always something to do on Magic Island.
