This lovely apartment is located in a quaint apartment building just a couple of minutes from Maria Alm. It accommodates up to three people and has a kitchen and shower. The hosts speak English and are able to answer any questions, and they generously provide the Hochkönig card which grants access to many nearby sights. This would be the perfect place to stay if you’re participating in the St. Bartholomew Pilgrimage. This tradition takes place annually and has been for nearly 400 years, making it the oldest high mountain pilgrimage in Europe. It starts in Maria Alm each August on the Saturday after the feast of St. Bartholomew. The pilgrimage is not for the faint of hearted- it spans about 9 hours of continuous hiking up the Steinernes Meer, to a plateau on the Funtensee, and finally down to the Hirschau peninsula at the St. Bartholomew’s church.

The bed and breakfast is a quaint mountain farm with beautiful wooden balconies and flower boxes. The surrounding area is breathtaking: pristine snow-covered meadows and mountain peaks in the winter, and wildflowers and babbling streams in the summer. The name of this apartment is not misleading: from the balcony of this apartment, you can see idyllic Alpine homes, the church steeple in the center of Maria Alm, and beyond that the majestic Alps. Inside the apartment, it is spacious and cozy. Downstairs is a small kitchen, living room, dining area, and outdoor balcony. There is a lofted area with two beds and a bathroom. This spot is only a short walk from the village center. Maria Alm is a quaint town known for its quick access to local skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. The town takes great pride in its local goods, especially during the Harvest Festival usually held during the fall. It also has one of the tallest church steeples in the Salzburg region at the Wallfahrtskirche Maria Alm. Its location cannot be beaten: in ten minutes you can reach the historical town center of Maria Alm on foot and immediately access the ski lifts and hiking trails. The apartment includes a double bed, couch, small dining area, and a TV and kitchen. If you’re in town during the hiking season, this spot is a perfect starting point for your hikes! Maria Alm’s mountainous location makes it a centrally located town to hike the Hochkönig region. The area has 340 km (211 miles) of trails that lead to gorgeous views! One of the best trails is Königsweg, a 72 km (45-mile) long trail that starts in Maria Alm and takes a couple of days. There are traditional Alpine huts along the way for meals and overnight accommodations. If a day hike is more your speed, there are lifts and hiking buses that leave from Maria Alm to take hikers to the trails.
