Oberstdorf is Germany’s southernmost village and it is also considered a hiking village, with its 200 kilometers (124 miles) of hiking trails, that take you through the alpine landscape. The routes range from easy to difficult, so you could say that there’s a route for anyone who wants to hike here.

Whether you come in the summer or winter, Oberstdorf is a great place to let your outdoorsy spirit run free. There are about 128 kilometers (79 miles) of slopes and about 122 kilometers (76 miles) of cross-country ski tracks. If you get tired of riding down the mountain, you can also enjoy a peaceful day out on the legend-shrouded Christlessee Lake or enjoy the cascades of the Iller source.

So, if you’re thinking of visiting this natural wonderland, here are a couple hotels and vacation rentals in Oberstdorf, Germany, that’ll complete your alpine experience:

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. 1. The sumptuous buffet at Boutique Hotel Gams  (from USD 139)

If you’re looking for somewhere quiet, yet central, in Oberstdorf, this small boutique hotel is a great option. It’s right next to a hiking and cross-country trail, in the Allgau region of Bavaria, and if you’re tired after a day outdoors, the hotel has a small cafe, sauna, and outdoor garden, where you can decompress. Especially worth mentioning is the accompanying breakfast, with platters of Allgauer cheese, smoked salmon, and a great view of the mountains. Once in a while, they even have folk musicians entertaining their diners.

The hotel was renovated in 2014 and each room is trendily-furnished with its own balcony or terrace. Rooms also have their own TV, fridge, and bathroom. The hotel is just 700 meters (2296.6 feet) away from the train station and 1.4 kilometers (0.8 miles) away from the Nebelhorn ski lift.
