Getting here requires a long trek because it is in the depths of Grand Canyon’s deepest, exposed rock layer. To stay here, you need to obtain a permit from Grand Canyon Backcountry Information Center. It welcomes groups of up to 11 people each per night, making it perfect for a friendly reunion or family gathering. Also, it has two regular campsites welcoming a maximum of six people each per night. This is also the best base if you want to fish at the Colorado River.

2. Bright Angel Campground

Bright Angel Campground is situated along Bright Angel Creek at the bottom of Grand Canyon, only about 0.8 km (0.5 mi) away from the Colorado River and Phantom Ranch. 3. Big Sky Retreat

If you are looking for an off-grid camping experience, Big Sky Retreat is perfect for you. It is located 56.3 km (35 mi) away from the South Rim of Grand Canyon, beautifully surrounded by juniper and pinon trees. It only has one campsite for a maximum of eight people, perfect for a group of family or friends who are planning to hike. For your convenience, bathroom facilities are available in a private building. Campfires are allowed here except when there is a fire ban or during high winds, but you need to bring your own firewood or purchase them on site

4. Indian Garden Campground

Indian Garden Campground is located along Bright Angel Trail and stunningly surrounded by cottonwood trees. Conveniently, it is only 7.7 km (4.8 mi) away from the South Rim of Grand Canyon. 5. North Rim Campground

Typically, North Rim Campground is open between May 15 and October 15. From October 16 to 31, it operates with limited services. It offers RV spots and tent sites. While it has no hookups, it provides a dump station. Ensuring you a hassle-free stay, it features coin-operated laundry facilities and shower areas by the entrance. Large groups are also welcome here. Group campsites can accommodate up to 25 people and 3 vehicles each. If you wish to bring your pets, make sure that they are leashed at all times. However, they are only allowed on Bridle Path.

6. Trailer Village RV Park - South Rim

Trailer Village RV Park - South Rim is the only RV campground with full hookups within Grand Canyon. Featuring 123 pull-through campsites that can each accommodate vehicles that are up to 15-m (50-ft.) long, it is open year-round. The amenities it offers include potable water, laundry facilities, showers, toilets, WiFi, and a seasonal dump station. Trash collection is also offered here. Kaibab Camper Village is the only campground with full hookups on the North Rim of Grand Canyon. Situated right next to Jacob Lake, it is surrounded by the tall pines of Kaibab National Forest. Aside from RV spots, it also features a cabin-style guest room, an economy cabin, and tent sites. A group tent site is available, too, which is capable of accommodating a minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 20 people. Guaranteeing a worry-free camping experience, the campground offers sewer and water. Coin-operated laundry and shower facilities, sinks, and toilets are also provided.

Tucked in Kaibab National Forest along a beautiful lake, Dogtown Lake Campground and Group is ideal for those who wish to enjoy various outdoor activities, such as fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. It offers 50 individual and 5 group campsites on a 6-month and a 12-month rolling basis, respectively. One of these group campsites can accommodate up to 80 people overnight. Providing you a convenient stay, it features garbage cans, restrooms, and water faucets. It is good to note, however, that it has no dump station.

10. Cottonwood Campground

Cottonwood Campground is located on North Kaibab Trail, only 10.9 km (6.8 mi) below the North Rim of Grand Canyon. From here, the refreshing Bright Angel Creek is only a few minutes away. From mid-May through mid-October, it provides potable drinking water. For the rest of the year, only water from the creek, which needs to be filtered or treated, is available. Other on-site amenities include toilets and an emergency phone. If you came out to Grand Canyon to hike, this campground is suitable for you. Many trails are nearby, including Ribbon Falls and Roaring Springs.
