The Festival of Trains in Traverse City began in 1991 as an annual event. What was to be a fundraiser for renovations of Opera House soon became a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. Held in the Northern Michigan Railroad Club, this festival is one of the largest fundraisers for multiple charities in Traverse City. You can plan a day out with your kids to show them 0-gauge train models, along with HO-, S-, and G-gauges. There is a special train for kids too!

2. VASA Festival of Races

The North American VASA Festival, also known as the Festival of Races, started in 1977. It is during this time that community members participate in winter activities, such as country skiing.
