Ryugujyo Spa Hotel Mikazuki is an onsen theme park in Chiba’s Kisarazu City. There is a large bath house with men’s and women’s outdoor baths, an indoor spa where you can have fun in your swimwear, and a very spacious outdoor spa. The rooms have an ocean view and dinner is a buffet with so many dishes it’s hard to choose what to eat. With a festival square and trick art it feels like the real Ryugujyo (the Palace of the Dragon King of the Sea which Urashima Taro was taken to).

Even the Standard Rooms here have a 6.5sqm room with a 13sqm bedroom making them spacious and relaxingly open. If you stay here as a group of 4 they will lay down a pair of futons in the Japanese style room. With a deluxe room a living room is added to that. All the rooms have windows facing the sea here allowing you to enjoy the ocean view. If the weather is nice you can even see Mt. Fuji from here.
The outdoor spa can be enjoyed even in winter
Outside there is the Ocean Spa next to the sea. Have fun in the moving pool or the blue cave. Or swim until you can’t in the 20m pool. Or just float around in the Yokihinoshinjuburo or the Rose Bath. There are many ways to enjoy this outdoor spa. It is heated through the winter so aside for certain parts you can enjoy it throughout the year.
Bathe in the 150,000,000 JPY pure gold tub!
If you head to the gender-segregated bath house you definitely should try the Golden Tub which is said to cost 150,000,000 JPY. It is called the Kaiun no Yu which is said to bring good money luck as well as when you are gambling. Why not take a dip in the Silver bath next to it as well. It might help even more?
FYI the festival square where the picture of the Golden Tub is hung is where they hold local folk dance shows of Kisarazu called Yassaimossai. You can even join in and chant along while dancing. After dancing there is a raffle for those that joined in and you might be able to win something.
A laser show in the indoor spa!
At the indoor spa Aquapark there is a 70m long water slide that you can have fun on. If you like thrills then you should definitely give it a try.
When it gets dark colorful lights shine near the windows and a beautiful dragon appears. Also, every day there is a laser show that is synced to music. You can watch the show in a yukata if you don’t want to get in your swim wear. Of course the best way to watch is while swimming in the pool.
Meet princesses of Ryugujyo with trick art!
Although on a flat surface these figures look like they are jumping out at you, painted in trick art. Along a 100m area there are 120 pieces of art, we really recommend the Ryugujyo Zone. Take a picture with some princesses to prove that you went to Ryugujyo.
Also on the grounds is the largest video game arcade in the prefecture, fair stalls as well as food stalls that remind you of childhood, and a gift shop that sells many local gifts.
In closing
After so much swimming, dancing, and being merry of course you’ll be hungry. That’s where dinner comes! This is also representative of Ryugujyo and is bountiful. Choose from Chinese, Japanese or Western dishes from the buffet. Desserts are also well stocked. There are almost too many choices and it’s probably impossible to eat all of them but there is no time limit and you have a great view of Tokyo bay to take a break with.
Oh and don’t worry if you take these gifts home and open them you won’t suddenly age many years!
