Known as the “Mountain of Mountains”, the Matterhorn is the most-photographed mountain in the world and stands proud at 4,478 metres (14691.6 feet) tall. It is situated on the Swiss-Italian border, overlooking the Swiss town of Zermatt in the canton of Valais to the northeast and the Italian town of Breuil-Cervinia in the Aosta Valley to the south. It also features plenty of things to do that are suitable for travelers of all kinds. There are also a number of excellent accommodation options around the area, so you don’t have to worry about finding a place to stay in Zermatt. Check out these top hotels in Zermatt with views of Matterhorn.

1. Hotel Metropol & Spa Zermatt (from USD 159)

Are you wondering where to stay to see the Matterhorn? If so, consider staying at Hotel Metropol & Spa Zermatt. This hotel and spa combo offer a friendly and relaxing atmosphere from which to enjoy your views over the Matterhorn. This family-owned hotel offers comfortable, simple rooms with varying views over the Matterhorn. The best choices are the Superior Double Room, a south-facing location with excellent Matterhorn views, and the Junior Suite, which has views from the balcony.

Be sure to check out the spa area because even the pool has Matterhorn views… pure bliss! Be sure to book in advance though because this hotel is extremely popular.

3. Mont Cervin Palace (from USD 376)

First opened in 1851, this hotel is a member of “Leading Hotels of the World”, and we can see why! With an a la carte restaurant, full-size pool, spa, and fitness centre, it’s perfect for a relaxing break whilst the views will leave you breathless.

It’s also lovingly known as a ‘one of a kind hotel because there are many unique factors about it; we particularly love the red horse-drawn carriage. The views of the Matterhorn are best enjoyed from the higher-level floors.

4. Grand Hotel Zermatterhof (from USD 587)

Are you looking for a place to stay near the Matterhorn? If that’s the case, Grand Hotel Zermatterhof is your best bet. This traditional property dates back to 1879 and offers a luxurious resort including three restaurants, spa facilities, and, this time, a white horse-drawn carriage.

The bedrooms are decorated in neutral white and beige colours with original wooden beams and features which make a sophisticated and elegant ambience. Unspoiled views of the Matterhorn are best enjoyed from the double rooms, Junior Suite, and Chalet Suite.

5. Hotel Matterhorn FOCUS (from USD 370)

The views from this hotel are amazing and we particularly love the sights from any of the windows in the spacious Royal Suite. If you’ve not got the budget for a big splash out then don’t worry, because come rain or shine you can enjoy the views from the ground-floor terrace.

The location, directly beside the “Matterhorn Express” valley station, is perfect for exploring the surrounding nature. If that sounds too adventurous, though, you could always relax in your open plan room or enjoy a hot chocolate in the lounge, or on a sunny day a cocktail by the outdoor pool, which also has breathtaking views!

6. Riffelhaus 1853 (from USD 485)

Using only natural materials in the rooms, we adore this unique ski hotel. There are two room types that offer views of the Matterhorn: the Junior Suite and double room. Be sure to check that the double room you are booking has views of the Matterhorn as some offer ‘mountain views’ only. One of our favourite places to enjoy the view is actually in the outdoor hot tub where you can rest after a long day skiing.

If you’re looking for excellent views alongside some peace and quiet, then Parkhotel Beau Site would be perfect for you. This 4-star hotel offers not only panoramic mountain views but also an indoor pool where you can go for a swim and spa facilities where you can relax and pamper yourself.

It is important to check out the room options online as not all views cover Matterhorn, but we know that our favourite, the Matterhorn Alpine Chic Suite does, but there are many other options available.

9. The Omnia (from USD 942)

Nestled on top of a rock, 148 feet (45 metres) above the roofs of central Zermatt, the best view of Matterhorn from this hotel has to be, in our opinion, from the outdoor hot tub. None of the rooms are identical and so they vary in terms of size; some even have a private balcony.

The best private view is from the Matterhorn Suite but there are plenty of lower-priced options available. It is worth noting that there is a minimum stay at the hotel.

This 4-star hotel offers rooms that have a private balcony, a perfect place to relax while enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding area. You can get pampered and relax at the same time in the three-story spa area that also features a fitness suite and comfortable seating areas.

The only selected rooms offer the Matterhorn view and the best is the Romantik Double Room. This hotel has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that you really won’t want to leave.
