Because of their shaded outdoor seating, Hamsa is ideal for the warmer months. Their menu conveys a dedication to sustainability and is friendly for vegans and those who are gluten-free. On Friday night it’s better if you make a reservation; there usually isn’t seating because of Shabbat. 2. Nova Krova
Nova Krova is a 100% vegan restaurant in the center of the Jewish district. They are most well known for their gourmet burgers and beet root french fries. Their quinoa burger is a particular favorite. If you’re not vegan, but concerned with sustainability, this is a great option for you because of their wide range of healthy options on their menu. Nova Krova also hosts a great brunch on the weekends. Of course they are also gluten-free friendly. Meals range from 5 to 10 USD.

3. Milkbar Tomasza
If you’re looking for a traditional Polish meal, Milkbar Tomasza combines modern elements and traditional Polish cuisine to create a unique culinary experience. Known for their affordability (about 3 USD for a plate), milkbars are scattered all over Krakow. Milkbar Tomasza is one of the most popular in town, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as coffee and dessert. Because of this, the lines can often be quite long, however, devoted fans insist that the wait is well worth it. Be sure to try the apple pancakes and pierogis. They’re also vegetarian-friendly.

4. Starka Restaurant
Starka is another modern interpretation served in a cozy, intimate environment. This restaurant, however, is much more meat heavy than Milkbar Tomasza, offering only one vegetarian option (breaded cheese). Starka may be a good choice for families because of their children’s menu. The restaurant is most beloved for their extensive vodka selection. 5. Czarna Kaczka
Czarna Kaczka, located in Old Town, is a summer and spring favorite because of its large courtyard with umbrella covered tables. Czarna Kaczka, translated literally as “the Black Duck,” is a traditional Polish restaurant, of course famous for its roasted duck. There are few vegetarian and no vegan options on the menu, but if your gluten-free friend is an omnivore there should be plenty of options available. If you have a sweet tooth, Czarna Kaczka is a great place to try some traditional Polish desserts. Appetizers are about 5 USD for a plate, while larger means are up to 25 USD.

6. Restaurant Farina
Another restaurant in the Main Square, is a fresh seafood restaurant, Restaurant Farina. Farina is a classically beautiful restaurant with white table cloths and crystal chandeliers. Despite this, the wood brick fire place in the center of the restaurant adds a homey feel. For the freshest fish and produce, Farina offers a seasonal menu. With some creativity and flexibility, vegans and those with a gluten intolerance should be able to find something to eat here. 7. Konfederacka 4

9. Trezo Restauracja
Trezo is a Mediterranean restaurant located in the Jewish Quarter. Open from lunch until 11 pm, Trezo hosts a full bar and live music. Although the decor bar may invoke a luxurious dining experience, the prices are quite reasonable, with a plate coming in around 4-7 USD. Trezo is gluten-free, vegan, and kid friendly. 10. Once Upon a Time
Once Upon a Time is a restaurant in the Jewish Quarter located near the Galicia Jewish Museum, serving hearty Jewish meals accompanied by traditional Klezmer music performed live. They host breakfast, of course featuring bagels, lunch, and dinner. Once Upon a Time is especially appreciated for its extensive selection of Polish vodkas. Plates cost roughly 4-15 USD.
