Eiffel Tower Surroundings: Things You Really Can't Miss
If you made plans to come to Paris, you would inevitably include a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower on your itinerary. The Eiffel Tower is situated on the west side of Paris, in the 15th arrondissement. It is accessible by metro line 6 (Bir-Hakeim station) or via the RER C (Champs de Mars - Tour Eiffel station). The stunning steel building was designed by the architect Gustave Eiffel for the World Exposition of 1889, which was organised as a celebration of the French Revolution that took place in 1789, a hundred years earlier. It has three floors and is 300.24 metres (about 163 ft) tall. It was even the tallest building in the world until 1930 when the Chrysler Building in New York City rose above it. However, even if the Eiffel Tower attracts all the attention in the15th arrondissement, there is much more to see and to visit. Here is a list of the most interesting things that you should not miss.
Picnic In Paris: What Places Are The Best?
Paris is surely a very impressive city when it comes to monuments and food. However, in addition to its historical and architectural beauties, Paris is also an extremely animated city. It offers rich culture, great expositions, interesting cinema projections and year-round free roller skating tours. During the winter, there are beautiful Christmas markets and ice skating rinks in the city centre – the one in front of the City Hall is worth trying! During the summer, there are concerts, festivals and open air cinemas. Even if all seasons are interesting, late spring and summer have something special, as the famous Parisian grey disappears and the sunny sky rules. The normally reserved locals fill up all the city space with picnic baskets full of tasty food, which is, for the French, so quintessential. Want to join them? Here is a list of their most favourite places.
