(32)Another mall to head to is the Trans Icon Mall in Gayungan, Surabaya. Here's a photo I took in Tanamera Coffee. They have the best cappuccino with plant-based milk! Don't miss out on trying their chicken rice too!

Here's a picture of the famous Sate Klopo Ondomohen Bu Asih in Surabaya! I love the taste because the meats are unlike other satays where we would always find excess gajih a.k.a. saturated fat amount... And their coconut seasonings are great too!!

"I'm not from Semarang, but every time I go to Semarang, I always make sure to stop by this restaurant! The restaurant is Antarakata A Yani on Jalan Ahmad Yani No 162 (opposite Haka Hotel A Yani).
In this frame, we have ""Antarakata Big Breakfast"" consisting of sausage, egg, loads of chips, baguettes, spinach, baked beans, and other ingredients. The portions are so big here! We also have two cups of cappuccino to accompany Antarakata's unique Big Breakfast, only in Antarakata, and only in Semarang."

Baba Kopitiam is a newly-established cafe in Semarang! I visited this cafe around March 2023.
This place is where you can enjoy kopitiam at Semarang. In the frame, we have nasi hainan and teh tarik. Yum! (P.S. The nasi's tahu a.k.a. tofu has big cuts - a typical Semarang cafe way!)

"Hello from Surabaya!
Now, Wirawiri Suroboyo (Surabaya's next-generation angkot a.k.a. public transportation) is available on at least six different routes all around Surabaya.
The cost? IDR 5,000 per passenger (0.33 USD), and only cashless payment (no debit or credit cards, only through QR or e-money taps) is accepted. Senior-aged people and students will have to register themselves in Dishub for half of the price on July 1, 2023."

I heard some people say, "When you visit a city, you should try eating the local foods," and, I have to agree with them. Anyway, tahu telor is a local Surabaya food that you should try!
Wakul Mas in Trans Icon Mall, Gayungan, is one of the places to try Surabaya's authentic tahu telor. Anyway, the tofu (tahu) and telor a.k.a. egg are not served separately; instead, they are "dikopyok" a.k.a. mixed together in a wok with other ingredients, such as kecambah a.k.a. bean sprouts, and they are always served with plenty of keropok (crackers) and petis (black shrimp sauce) and cabe rawit (chili padi).
Since Wakul Mas is located inside a shopping mall, their opening and closing hours follow the mall management's rule: Everyday at 10:00 a.m. to 22:00 p.m. GMT +7.

When you need a sweet desert, you should try sampling the traditional coconut-rich desserts of Indonesia. For instance, you can try jenang grendul (the one with meatball-like shape) and klanting (the one with longer and thicker shape) in this picture... These two desserts are so popular in Eastern and Central Java area of Indonesia!
Coconut sugar in jenang grendul is mixed with the grendul (meatballs) when processed. The sauce is from a pure coconut milk... And we can feel the sticky grendul as soon as we spoon it!
Like klepon, you can obtain these two delicious Indonesian desserts almost anywhere, from wet markets to cafes and restaurants that sell authentic Javanese or Indonesian foods and beverages.

"What are you thinking when you visit Indonesia and order for some boxes of ondeh-ondeh? Are you thinking of green balls with coconut garnishes like the ones I posted a few days ago? No!
In Indonesia, ondeh-ondeh refers to a ball-shaped dessert with sesame toppings as garnishes. The traditional Indonesian ondeh-ondeh has mung bean fillings, yet, as time goes by, we know other fillings, such as red bean or chocolate.
Ondeh-ondeh is so easy to make: All you have to do is to roll the dough so they will be shaped like small balls, just like the ones in the pictures I've provided here. It's so widely available that even small-scaled household culinary business communities and SMEs are actively making many batches of ondeh-ondeh."

Jesslyn K Bread & Cake was more famous in Semarang before its comeback at Surabaya. I knew Jesslyn when I was an Elementary School student - that time was around 2004. Jesslyn shortly closed the Surabaya store in 2006-2007 in Supermall PTC.
Jesslyn K Bread & Cake is also famous for Mokko Factory. Mokko used to open at PTC, too - my last visit to Mokko Factory at PTC was around 2012. Unfortunately, not many people visit the donut shop, and the tenant's place was so not strategic at that time, to the point that Mokko had to close around one year after its establishment.
Jesslyn K Bread & Cakes x Mokko Factory is located not far away from Transmart BG Junction. Just look at the shapes of the tenant's building and you won't get lost!
