Enchanted Sintra & Noble Cascais, a Royal Fairytale

(1 reviews)

SintraCascais

7 hours

We’ll start the day away from the crowds in Queluz Palace, a sumptuous 18th century royal palace: the perfect place to learn the curiosities about the period pre-earthquake, the French invasions, the life in Brazil, our royal family peculiar marriages. Enjoy its amazing gardens: an incredible tasty blend of Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassicism. (If you prefer we can visit Pena Palace instead - please read the note below in the itinerary section)

Then, we’ll visit to the historic centre of Sintra, a fascinating small town at the bottom of the mountain range. Endowed with luxuriant vegetation, it is part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Fairytale castles and palaces will take you back in time; undoubtedly a special nook with unique characteristics that led UNESCO to classify it as a World heritage site.

Drive towards the Atlantic blue waters of Cascais, a 19th century fishermen’s village, today a summer retreat with a very noble atmosphere. Photo stop and return to Lisbon along the scenic coastal road.

DAY 1

DAY 1 -

  • 1 hour drive to Sintra
  • 1 hour 15 minute stop in the historic centre
  • 25 minute drive to ONE palace and 1 hour 30 minute visit to that chosen palace (If you prefer to visit Regaleira or Pena email me, please)
  • 30 min drive to Cascais
  • 30 min stop in Cascais for a photo stop or a quick snack
  • Return to Lisbon along the coastal road (1h)

NOTE: Queluz, Pena & Regaleira close on Jan 1, Dec 24 & 25.

NOTE: Pena palace is up a hill. We’ll drive till the main entrance gate. There’s a steep road inside the park you might wanna consider if you have mobility issues or get tired easily. There’s a bus transfer inside the park but it just gets you close to the palace.

I’m happy to help finding the best option for you!
* Regaleira (please see description of tour).
* Queluz Palace is the ideal with only flat areas.

NOTE: Due to extreme weather conditions, monuments in Sintra can be suddenly closed for indeterminate time by legal imposition.
Unexpected governmental special situations or strikes might also affect the well functioning of monuments. This is beyond my control.

Private transportation included for up to 7 travellers.
