Tour of Livorno by private car with visit to the central market and Fortezza Nuova

Once we’ve met, we’ll depart from Livorno in the morning, travelling in a comfortable vehicle with an English speaking driver and myself, your tour guide.

• First stop at Livorno’s central market.

• Venice neighborhood, Dominican Square.

• Italia Avenue: view of the Art Nouveau jewel of the “Baracchina Rossa” and view from outside the aquarium; Giovanni Fattori Museum as seen from the outside. The Story of the Macchiaioli.

• House where Amedeo Modigliani was born on Marradi Street ( the fourth son of a family belonging to Livorno’s large Jewish community).

• Central Market, housed in one of Livorno’s most interesting buildings from the second half of the 19th century where you can enjoy some excellent food.

• Piazza della Repubblica from which you can admire Fortezza Nuova, whose history dates back to the late 16th century, when architect Buontalenti was commissioned by the Medici government to draw up a plan for the new city of Livorno.
