Hommocks Conservation Area is a 10.6-acre (4.2-hectare) parcel of land composed of a wonderful mix of woodland, salt marsh, and meadow areas. 6. Sheldrake River Trails
A conservation area for indigenous animals and plants, the Sheldrake River Trail is a 23-acre (9 hectare) woodland, cut across by the eastern part of the Sheldrake River. Wedged between Highland Avenue and Winged Foot Drive, the trails offer lovely woodsy walks through various ecosystems that thrive in this part of Mamaroneck. 7. Emelin Theatre

8. The 1816 Schoolhouse
Affectionately called “the little schoolhouse”, this is the town’s third school, built at Mamaroneck and Mount Pleasant avenues. But what jumps out at us is that the building has been remodeled, only to create a pre-Civil War environment for the children to study in. Run by the village historian Gloria Pritts, the school sees the kids cultivating their Colonial studies in a two-hour 1816-style class, which begins and ends by clangs of a bell. The charming single room has been restored with beautiful historical exhibits and pictures of the surrounding area and, as the schoolhouse sits right outside the lovely Harbor View Park, it calls for a perfect combined visit.

The beautiful green park, ensconced between Park and Keeler avenues, nurtures two tennis courts, jogging/walking tracks, two lighted full basketball courts, checker tables and benches, and a playground.
