Affordable rooms for budget travellers

Located downstairs, underneath the street-level reception area, there are some basic rooms for two people. With a private bathroom with a shower, two single beds, a wardrobe, and a small table, they offer a cheap and cheerful no-frills accommodation option. Despite being “underground”, the hilly nature of Chefchaouen, combined with the fact that the lower rooms are at the rear of the property, means that you can still get plenty of fresh air and sunlight through the window. The nightly rate is around 250 MAD (approximately 25.50 USD).

Choice of apartments for larger groups and greater comfort

The ground and upper levels of the building house four beautifully decorated apartments in various sizes, with the largest suitable for parties of up to seven. All apartments have separate bedrooms and living areas with satellite TV. Each also has a private bathroom, a balcony with mountain views, and a kitchen with a stove, fridge / freezer, and an assortment of crockery and cutlery. Some apartments have a fireplace, great for chilly evenings in the cooler season (December to February).

As a guide, a one-bedroom apartment with a double bed, suitable for two people, costs around 450 MAD (approximately 46 USD) per night, whilst a three-bedroom apartment, which can accommodate seven guests in three bedrooms, costs around 750 MAD (approximately 77 USD) for a night’s stay.

Typical Moroccan furnishings and décor

The entire property exudes a typical Moroccan air, with bright colours, attractive lamps, and wooden carvings. Islamic and Arabic details feature prominently in the décor. You’ll find several communal seating areas in the property, comprising long Moroccan-style sofas with plenty of plump cushions, offering you the opportunity to chill out outside of your room and meet other guests.

Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the property, with a strong signal in all rooms and apartments. Breakfast is available for an additional fee, with costs depending on the item(s) ordered.

The friendly reception staff can assist with recommendations of what to see and do in the local area, and they can also assist with booking trips and / or transportation to nearby places of interest, such as the spectacular waterfalls of Akchour.

There is plenty of car-parking space on the road outside of the main entrance. If travelling by public transport, the town’s bus station is around a 20-minute walk away.

Places of interest in the local area

Most visitors are drawn to Chefchaouen because of the town’s unique appearance; the vast majority of buildings are painted in soothing shades of blue and white. Strolling around the narrow streets and simply soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the lovely buildings is one of the main things to do. The souks (markets) are less frenetic than in other popular tourist destinations, like Marrakech and Fes, and you can browse and buy numerous items, including spices, detailed artwork, clothing, and leather goods. The historic Kasbah is also well worth a visit.
