Raikusuma Resort is located in Thailand’s central province of Saraburi (also sometimes spelt as Salaburi), in the pretty district of Muak Lek. A great base for enjoying the area’s abundant natural delights, such as waterfalls and vineyards, the stunning resort also boasts its own mini waterfall and beautiful grounds. Delightful rooms, great views, and a good selection of activities make this a top choice for a place to stay in Saraburi.

You can reach Saraburi by bus from Bangkok and other nearby major cities. From the main provincial bus station, regular local buses run to Muak Lek. You would then need to walk to the resort (approximately 15 minutes) or flag down a local tuk tuk. You could also take a tuk tuk directly from Saraburi’s bus station. Alternatively, mini vans operate between Bangkok’s Victory Monument and Muak Lek, and the district is also connected by rail. Having your own transport, however, is highly recommended so that you can enjoy the surrounding areas with ease.

Great choice of rooms catering to different sizes of groups

Raikusuma Resort has several different accommodation buildings scattered through its attractive grounds. They include intimate private houses that are ideal for couples looking for some secluded romance, and larger rooms with several beds, which are great for families and groups of friends.

Many of the resort’s rooms have their own names, such as Ban Gorlek, Ban Nernsai, and Ban Chomthan, adding another level of individuality to the beautiful rooms. The resort has a total of 45 rooms.

From rooms for two people right through to those that can accommodate up to 15 guests, you are sure to find a room size and type to match your needs. Prices range from between 1,200 THB (approximately 33.50 USD) per night for a standard double room and up to 9,000 THB (approximately 250 USD).

Comfortable rooms with good facilities

The beautiful houses for two guests feature soft beds with plump pillows, an indoor and outdoor seating area, refrigerator, cable TV, and Wi-Fi. Air-conditioning keeps you cool at night. The clean bathrooms have hot water and a mini selection of toiletries. A major feature is the large windows that overlook the resort’s river and waterfall. Pull back the curtain and enjoy nature quite literally right next to your bed!

A filling breakfast is included each morning, with a good selection of typical Thai fare such as noodles, fried rice, and Khao Tom (a soup-like rice porridge). There is no real distinction between Thai foods for different meals – you are likely to find a similar selection of dishes as you would at any other time of the day. Ample car-parking is available, with space directly outside most rooms and a large paved area close to the main reception building.

Relaxing and fun resort facilities and activities

There is an onsite restaurant where you can enjoy a wide array of tasty Thai favourites, such as chicken fried rice, pork fried rice, spicy soups, and stir-fried dishes.

Take some time to wander around the resort and enjoy nature. Cross over cute wooden bridges, listen to the chirping sounds of bird song, see colourful butterflies flitting between equally colourful flowers, admire interesting garden statues, and lap up the calm and tranquil atmosphere.

The deep blue waters of the river and the small cascading waterfall might just be enough to tempt you in for a swim! If you do decide to take the plunge, stay fairly close to the waterfall – you may find your feet tangled in dense river weeds the farther away you swim! Surrounded by lush green trees and pretty flowers, the cool waters are really refreshing.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you could arrange for an exciting All-terrain vehicle (ATV) ride or take to the treetops with a jungle canopy zip line (extra charges apply). There are often various promotions in operation, but as a guide you should expect to pay in the region of 500 THB (approximately 14 USD) for an hour of an activity. You could also hire a kayak and take to the waters. Whether you want to relax and take it easy, or fill your days with adrenalin-fuelled action, everyone can find something that will make them smile.

Attractions and activities in the area

The multi-level Chet Sau Noi Waterfall is just a few minutes’ drive away from Raikusuma Resort, and you’ll also find verdant vineyards, walking trails aplenty, and tempting roadside vendors selling an assortment of locally grown fresh produce.

The popular and well-known Khao Yai National Park is within easy reach, and home to lots of wildlife and several impressive waterfalls. The views are also pretty special too! The park covers more than 2,000 square kilometres (approximately 1,200 square miles) and there are several official entrances. The closest entrance from Raikusuma Resort is around 43 kilometres (approximately 27 miles) away, near Nakhon Ratchasima’s town of Pak Chong. Whilst you can take a local bus between Muak Lek and Pak Chong, there is no public transport within the national park. Having your own car is highly recommended, unless you join an organised group tour from a city like Bangkok or Nakhon Ratchasima, or charter a taxi for your trip. It is fairly common for independent travellers to hire a scooter in Pak Chong or attempt to hitch-hike, neither of which is particularly recommended.
