The best way to get close to nature is camping. Is there anything better than sleeping under the stars and the smell of campfire? Whether you’re camping in a tent, an RV, or a van, here are some easy accessible, and incomparable camping locations around the world.

Redwood National and State Park, United States

The Redwood National Forest is a nurtured string of forests, beaches and grasslands along the northwest coast of California, between Klamath Glen and Trinidad. This park is home to some of the tallest and oldest trees in the world. The Redwoods consists of a variety of engaging plants and wildlife to admire, including mosses covering large fallen trees in streams and along hiking paths, and large standing snags.

The park is open all year round, but summer reservations are essential. There are four developed campgrounds in the park. You also have the option to hike to a backcountry campsite with a free permit. The standard camping fee is 35 USD a night, you also have the option to rent a cabin for 80-100 USD a night. Make sure that you bring along some comfortable hiking shoes. There are several hiking trails that are not to be missed!

Victoria Forest Park is unique for the plants and trees that decorate the landscape; more than 80% of the vegetation is only found in New Zealand. You can camp near in the park in Slab Hut Creek Camping Area in your tent, RV, or van, located 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) south of Reefton.

The fee per night is between 1 NZD to 10 NZD. The activities found at this park include hiking, hunting, and mountain biking. You can even learn about marine life at a Marine Reservation. If you go here, bring a tent or a camping hammock. New Zealand is known for its freedom when it comes to camping. This is where you can camp for free just about anywhere! Just be courteous and aware of taking back home what you bring in.

Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

You can experience eco-camping in Chile, where you can sleep in a cozy dome. You can acquire this unique experience if you decide to explore the Torres del Paine National Park. The camp offers a five to 10 day trek, where you can have an adventure amidst mountains, lakes, glaciers, and rivers that encompass the park. There are other campsites available here as well.

The best time to visit Torres del Paine is during spring and summer, from November to April. The weather can change dramatically, so be prepared for any type of weather. There is an entrance fee to enter the park. For foreigners it is 21000 CLP (30 USD) and 6000 CLP for Chileans.

Lake Myvatn, Iceland

Lake Myvatn is the fourth largest lake in Iceland, with a surface area of 14.29 square miles (37 square km), yet it is shallow with a depth of around eight feet (248.9cm). 2,300 years ago, a basaltic volcano erupted and sculpted Lake Myvatn. It is unique for the wild birds that occupy the wetlands, with a variety of duck species. There are campsites available here with accommodations ranging from sleeping bags, to rooms with private bathrooms.
