Platinum Healing juice and yoga detox provides an experience that will cleanse both the mind and the body. You will learn about the benefits of a juice detox and also about nutrition, yoga and different types of holistic health and well being therapies. The retreat is residential and held in an upmarket barn conversion property in Arundel, a pretty as a picture town in West Sussex, southern England not too far from the coast.

Platinum Healing packages

Platinum Healing retreat in Sussex

There are a number of different guest packages available, and the team carefully tailor activities to the needs of the individual. The basic juice, nutrition and yoga detox is for everyone, and then there are a full range of additional treatments that you can bolt on to the core programme. These additional treatments are designed to address specific issues such as weight loss, fertility, stop smoking, menopause or particular medical conditions.

Other therapies you can try there include hypnotherapy for weight control, smoking or other issues. Then there are practitioners in NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) which is a form of retraining the brain to think in a more positive way, nutritionist advice in a one to one session, reflexology, massage, herbalists, DNA testing and fitness instructors all there to help you with your self healing journey.

Some options deal with more emotional or relationship issues. For example, the inner child package, which tackles overcoming past traumas and problems.

The juice programme means you are given three glasses of juice a day along with shots of other things like aloe vera, milk thistle and wheat grass to help your body detox itself. You get a small mug of electrolyte broth in the evening and that is it for the next five days!

Other activities at the retreat

The juice detox diet

The yoga, included in the juice detox basic package, is twice a day and caters for both beginners and the more advanced. It’s good fun and everyone just gets stuck in and has a go. Evening sessions are sometimes more like meditation, which is suitably relaxing.

Rachel, our super knowledgeable nutritionist, gave a talk every morning on subjects ranging from the best juicing machine for you, to the vast range of detox supplements that are now available to buy. You can find out why detoxing is good for you and the effects toxins have on our body and our daily lives. Other less mainstream topics (although just as interesting) include intestinal parasites and how to get rid of them and how to perform a self administered enema! Rachel can tell you all you will ever need to know about how to juice, alkalising foods and the boundless benefits of a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and kale. There is also the option to go on a foraging walk around the local country lanes and find some natural food for free. Nettles for example, common in our English hedgerows, make a good detoxing herbal tea.

In the evenings you can watch movies about nutrition and diet. Popular titles are things like Supersize Me or Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, or you can just do your own thing. On our last night, Penny, the centre manager brought in a talented blues guitarist to come into the retreat to play for us and he was absolutely brilliant. Some of the more energetic guests were even up dancing!

Accommodation at the retreat

This retreat (other retreats are at a Lincolnshire venue) is held in a smart barn conversion property complex, which manages to combine the standards of an upmarket hotel with the feel of a country home. My room was lovely with a huge bed and an extremely comfortable mattress. Some of the rooms are single and some are shared.

There is a TV, Wi-Fi and luxurious underfloor heating — ideal for chilly days. At the front of the property, there is a spacious patio outside with gorgeous views out over the Sussex countryside — one of our loveliest English counties. There’s even a small indoor heated swimming pool. The delightful town of Arundel is a short walk away with its impressive castle, cathedral and up market Olde Worlde town centre. There are lots of lovely independent shops you can browse around in your free time, but there are also a number of attractive coffee stops and restaurants, so a bit of a danger zone if you are fasting!

Everyone was at the retreat for different reasons, and there were quite a few repeat visitors when I was there. It was a lovely group of interesting people from all walks of life who all got along well.

Juicing detox: a rest for body and mind

The juice detox is tough to do but there is lots of encouragement and support at the retreat and positive peer group pressure helped everyone to complete it. It is a true chance to give your digestive system a rest and relax, away from everyday life. You can see why these kind of retreats are becoming more and more popular.

Arundel is a lovely place to visit and there is so much content for the guests to learn about health and nutrition and how to keep well in what is an increasingly stressful world.

The basic juice detox package in a shared room starts at 650 GBP or 815 USD for five days but there are lots of different options so check the website for more details.
