Being a country made up of a peninsula and an island, Malaysians are no strangers to beautiful beaches and weekend island getaways. In fact, one might argue that the many beautiful islands are, apart from the world-renown Malaysian street food, one of the top tourism draws of the country.
One such island which gets a large number of both local and foreign visitors all-year round is Langkawi Island, located in the north of Peninsular Malaysia, off the coast of Kedah in the Andaman Sea.
As with most island getaways, a lingering question is this: where should one stay at in Langkawi to get the full island experience? I suggest The Cabin, Langkawi. Here are some reasons why.
Stay in a comfortable cabin without foregoing modern comforts
What makes The Cabin such an interesting place is the concept of the establishment. Rather than usher guests into individual rooms in a high-rise building like any other hotel, at The Cabin, guests lodge in a…well, cabin!
Each cabin contains a comfortable bed (guests have a choice between two super singles or a king-sized mattress), a flat-screen television, a mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities and an ensuite bathroom.
The cabin rooms are clean, comfy and cosy, providing a good place to rest after a day out exploring the island. Each cabin comes at a standard price of 160 MYR (39.19 USD) per night, although the establishment does have special packages and offers for families.
A blissful ambience and a perfect place to chill
Outside, each cabin comes with its own veranda with chairs and a table. Guests can simply relax at night outside the cabin, with a chilled drink in hand and maybe strike up a conversation with occupants of the neighbouring cabin.
The compound of The Cabin is dimly lit with just enough lighting to illuminate the pathways at night but maintain a blissful atmosphere. The compound is lined with trees and grass and in the evenings, when children can be seen playing with each other outside, the place is very much reminiscent of a traditional Malay kampong, further adding to the relaxing ambience of the place.
A literal stone's throw away from Cenang Beach
When one visits an island, it is for certain that a visit to the beach is high on the agenda. And thankfully enough, The Cabin is located on Jalan Pantai Cenang, meaning it is a literal stone’s throw away from Cenang Beach, one of the most popular beaches on the island.
Apart from that, Jalan Pantai Cenang is also the most happening region on the island, with bars, restaurants and shops lining both sides of the street. You can find some of the best international and local cuisine, street food and even food trucks! Yum!
Langkawi’s famous Underwater World aquarium is also only a 3 minutes’ walk from The Cabin! Considering this, you could argue that in terms of location, The Cabin is more than value for money, it’s a coup!
Leave your mark just before you leave
Love-locks are all the rage these days, aren’t they? It all started with the one in Paris, and then there’s the one on the Namsan Tower in Seoul and it’s just grown in popularity. Well, you can also find The Cabin Love-lock right outside the main entrance of the establishment.
Despite its amorous name, there’s nothing wrong with leaving a lock on there to commemorate a time well-spent, not just with your significant other, but with friends and family as well. It’s indeed a good way to make a memory!
All in all, The Cabin is a great choice
I am always of the belief that an island vacation should always come with suitable lodging for both comfort and experience. The Cabin, with its unique concept, comfortable rooms and excellent location certainly more than satisfies the criteria for a great choice of accommodation in Langkawi.
So if you’re headed to Langkawi anytime soon, make sure to check out The Cabin Langkawi for a relaxing stay in the heart of Langkawi!
