3. Lake Coleman
If you prefer to enjoy the quieter side of Sulphur Springs, head over to Lake Coleman for a scenic walk. The lake is just right by Texas Highway 313 and is adjacent to Coleman Park where your kids can enjoy running around and playing on the ball fields. 5. Hopkins County Courthouse
Placed in the lovely downtown Sulphur Springs, the Hopkins County Courthouse was certified as an official Texas landmark in 1975. The original courthouse along with the entire east side of the square charred in 1894. The present courthouse as it stands today is constructed using fireproof red Texas granite and was erected the subsequent year on the Northwest corner of the square.
Built in the Romanesque Revival architectural style with red sandstone and pink granite, the courthouse’s design comprises several unusual features, such as a double-helix staircase, a tower sans a clock, and entrances that are located on its northwest and southwest corners, instead of on its sides.

6. Southwest Dairy Museum
The Southwest Dairy Museum exhibits the reputation of the dairy industry’s past, present and future. The 10,000-square-foot (930 m2) museum features a five-story silo facility that assists as the headquarters for the numerous activities supported by the Southwest Dairy Farmers.
The museum’s exhibits comprise of: the life of a dairy farm before electricity came to rural areas of America, and the process of separating cream, alongside a series of historical articles. The museum’s foremost reason for establishment is to conserve the history of the Southwestern dairy industry for the pleasure and education of the future generations. 7. Coleman Park
A journey through Coleman Park commences on a concrete 2.5-mile (4 km) walking trail which loops around the lake, taking you past two spectacular waterfalls, over three bridges, through a tunnel, and finally connecting you to the soccer and baseball fields. This is also a large athletic park with a lake. Coleman Park has abundant recreational and sporting facilities, comprising of 7 soccer fields, 3 baseball fields, 3 softball fields, 2 tennis courts, a fishing pier, several picnic areas (armed with charcoal grills and tables), a playground area, a nature trail, and 2 refreshment stands located in the soccer and baseball areas.
Parking near the lake walking path is somewhat confusing, because you need to pass the baseball field parking to locate it. The path around the lake is paved with a beautiful view overlooking the large disc golf course. 8. Hopkins County Museum and Heritage Park
The Hopkins County Museum and Heritage Park features 17 reinstated historical buildings covering 11 acres (4.4 ha). The George and Myra Wilson home, built in 1910, has been converted into a museum that consists of an extensive doll collection, Civil War collectables, women’s apparel, household items and a primitive collection of fossils discovered in the Northeast Texas region.
The Hopkins County Museum building features many exceptional design elements, including carved columns and a rare Regency-style spherical ceiling expanding from four spindled arches. The central room has a painted eagle motif dome ceiling. The museum is built using double brick walls inside and out, with the brick supplied from the brick plant that once used to be in the back of the property. Each room in the museum has a separate foundation as well as a pressed tin ceiling. All the ceilings are original, except for the one in the Maddie May Long room, which originated from the Opera House.

9. Hopkins County Veterans Memorial
Learn about how Hopkins County soldiers assisted their country with tales about their service and sacrifice all collected and presented here at the Hopkins County Veterans Memorial. It is overwhelming to visualize how regular people served so valiantly during difficult times of war. It is an eye-opening experience to see the consequences of so much dedication and service to their country through stories and events of the past.
This is a beautiful example of a Veterans Memorial, where there are statues around the town square on one side and then there are walls with names of those veterans from the area on the other. There is an eternal flame by the walls burning 24/7. The entire memorial with its benches and walls and cascading water is a sight to see. You can also access the names on the walls on a specifically built computer kiosk that lets you find the information of the veterans.

10. Glass Bathrooms
Taking a stroll downtown, you may stop to look at yourself in a mirror and not know you’re staring straight into a bathroom! Sulphur Springs, Texas, installed in 2012 all-glass restrooms that are the first of their kind in the United States. Not many people would feel comfortable using the loo with see-through walls in the middle of a busy downtown square, but the best part is, nothing is perceptible from the outside in, just from the inside out. Reactions from some locals were on both sides of the spectrum, with one side feeling a little unsure about using the bathrooms and the other side saying they didn’t have a problem with them.
For the illusion to work suitably, the outside of the structure must be more lit than the inside. These bathrooms have no lights on the inside, while LED lights are installed on the outside of the structure, for the illusion to remain during the night. These Sulphur Springs attractions are modeled after the Italian artist, Monica Bonivicini’s 2004 art piece - ‘Don’t Miss A Sec’, which was placed outside an art museum in Switzerland.

11. Cooper Lake State Park
The 2,560 acres (1,035 ha) of landscape with a 19,300-acre (7,810 ha) lake, Cooper Lake State Park offers a diversity of water and land-based recreation for outdoor buffs. 12. Leo St. Claire Music Box Museum
The Leo St. Clair Music Box Collection takes you on a magical journey through the wonderful world of music boxes. Home to an extensive collection of more than 150 music boxes, many one-of-a-kind, unique and antique, and some owned by movie stars and soldiers. The Sinclair World War II Collection is also housed at the public library.
Leo St. Clair served in the U.S. Navy during both the World Wars, and the Korean conflict and it was during this military service that his curiosity in music boxes began, when the Queen of Belgium presented him with a box that is still the star of the collection. Collectibles such as letters, pictures and other items make up this compiling during the era of G.I. Joe action figures and Rosie The Riveter, an American cultural icon representing the American women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II.
