Grand Junction is increasingly on traveler’s list of places to visit. With more and more Airbnb properties coming available, your lodging choices are numerous. For the budget traveler, these three homes offer clean, comfortable, and safe lodging in this high-desert paradise.
We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. Why Grand Junction
Most travelers visiting Colorado don’t make it to Grand Junction. If they only knew how much the area has to offer this Western Slope city would be on their radar. The biggest attraction in the area is the Colorado National Monument. See towering red rock spires, colorful buttes, soaring golden eagles, and desert bighorn rams.
The Colorado and Gunnison Rivers cut through parts of Grand Junction before merging as one, giving this city its name. Float the Colorado River with local guides for those loving water adventures. Up on the Grand Mesa find miles of trails, fishing, and camping options. In winter hit the slopes of Powderhorn Ski Area. There are so many reasons to visit. Now you just need to choose lodging.
First, you have to decide where in town you want to be. Maybe you desire a location close to downtown for walkable access to several great restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Or you might want to be walking distance to Colorado Mesa University . Some travelers won’t care if the location is outside of comfortable walking distance to the city’s attractions. Once you know where you want your Airbnb to be located, the search can begin in earnest. Read on to see three Airbnb properties I’ve stayed at over the last year and deem worthy for budget lodging.
Blue Room
Located near the Colorado Mesa University, Blue Room is one of two rooms rented out in this modest home. The owner is often gone giving guests the feeling of having the house to themselves. You can rent one or both rooms in this home. If you rent both rooms, the shared bathroom will be shared amongst your group only. If you rent just the Blue Room, you might be sharing the bathroom with others.
Amenities include Direct TV, WiFi, kitchen with some spices, herbs, and a few cooking supplies like oil, vinegar etc. In the summer, fresh eggs are available to cook your breakfast, free of charge. I found the kitchen well equipped for cooking both days I stayed at the Blue Room. The bedroom is large enough for two but is best for solo travelers. Note that the Blue Room doesn’t have A/C and it gets hot in Grand Junction during the summer months.
Casa De Sol
For those who don’t need to be walking distance to the college or downtown, Casa Del Sol might be your best choice. This home is known for the owner’s delicious home-baked scones amongst recent reviewers and being quiet and cozy. Guests have access to the kitchen, living room, sunroom, and laundry. With central heating and A/C, you’re sure to stay comfortable during any season. And, there’s a space heater to use if you need a heat boost!
What’s different about this property is there are two rooms or the whole house for rent. If you’re traveling as a couple or solo, you can book one room, but upon arrival choose from the two bedrooms on the main floor. The owner blocks out the other bedroom upon booking, so you will have the hallway bathroom to yourself. The smaller of the two rooms has a queen size bed with a gorgeous quilt on it. Note that this property doesn’t have a TV, so keep that in mind.
One of the other benefits to note about Casa De Sol is having Rocket Park nearby. With a children’s playground, picnic area, and place to toss the frisbee, this is an excellent choice for travelers with children. The home’s location is just a ten minute or less drive to JUCO, Lincoln Park Golf course, VA Hospital, or Colorado Mesa University. Plan on spending around 45 USD per night for just one of these two rooms.

Downtown Location for Business or Adventure
The name indicates this property is close to downtown. Grand Junction is a very pedestrian-friendly town. From this convenient location, you can walk to the Avalon Theater, Rockslide Brewery, Bin 707 Foodbar, and dozens of other shops, restaurants, and attractions. Abram, the owner, is an avid rock climber and foodie. With this background, he is immensely qualified to help guests get the most out of their stay.
His home is a classic Victorian-style house with a very private guest wing for your stay. This guest room is perfect for a solo traveler or couple. A private entrance with self-check in keypad makes coming and going discrete. An ensuite private bathroom has a sink and toilet, but the shower is accessed by exiting your room through the first-floor dining room and kitchen. Abram thoughtfully furnishes a robe for returning to your room after showering. Shampoo and body wash are provided in the bathroom with the shower.
Amenities include a mini-fridge, microwave, WiFi, coffee maker, kitchen access, laundry, free candy dispenser, A/C (essential in summer) free on-street parking, and gobs of books to read. This is a pet-friendly room and comes with a dog bed and bowls for Fido. You’re also allowed to use the backyard to run your dog for short periods if needed. Abram has three tiny dogs of his own, but guest reviews indicate they are not a problem. Some guests might miss having a TV, so consider that when booking Abram’s room. Plan on spending about 50 USD per night for this property.

A positive experience
All three of the above properties are Super Host-rated and have a keyless-coded entry. Each of the three homes receives lots of positive comments for being very clean. There are a few other budget Airbnb properties in Grand Junction that weren’t included since I haven’t stayed in them yet. Thanks to Airbnb, visitors to Grand Junction now have several low-cost choices for quality lodging.
